New In ~ A haul post

New month, new haul post! This month I was a good girl and wore the nail polish I already have. However, I finally, finally put my hair treatment to a full circle, meaning, I bought new shampoos and conditioners. Naturally now comes the testing phase. But, honestly, I do not think it can get worse than what my scalp looks and feels like now.

Like always, a group photo. A bit of make up (a very nice surprise there as well), mostly stuff for hair and a bit for my skin as well.

Hair and skin
oh look, you can see my lightbox lamp here! say hi, lamp!

Let's do the big haul first. It was actually gradual, but it happened in this month. I mentioned several times before that I need new products for my hair and I ran out of toner and night cream, so I guess it was the month to really buy the stuff I actually needed. Which is good!

Paul Mitchell Spring Loaded Fizz-Fighting Conditioner
Ok, so my first encounter with Paul Mitchell was not the best. But I went to my awesome hairdresser again and I checked her stash again and I checked the ingredient list REALLY WELL and decided to pamper myself with another expensive-as-hell (24 EUR and do not dare to judge me) conditioner. I used it twice now and it is pure magic. Hair like silk, especially when combined with Redken Anti-snap leave in treatment. Ah yes. I will let you know after I am at least down to one third of the bottle, how it worked in the long run, ok?
John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Shampoo
I got this in Germany, it was on sale for 4,99€ , an extra big tube and I remembered Mateja praising the thing, so I bought it on a whim. Later on I realised she was talking about the conditioner of the same line, not shampoo, but hey, I already have it, might as well use it. And so far so good. I use it on my lenght, not scalp and it is a good shampoo. I have it for about a month, so I'll get back to you after a while on the decent review.

Derma E Scalp Relief Shampoo
You have no idea how happy I was when I saw this new thingie on Iherb. I adore Derma E. It is the brand that works for my skin best, and not just mine, but my mother's as well, which is probably the biggest test you can give to a cosmetics line. It is awesome, and this is their brand new shampoo for fighting dandruff. I have no idea how it works, I got it today and I am washing my hair after I post this. It cannot possibly be a bigger disappointment than La Roche Posay Kerium. Cost an arm and a leg and was worse for me than washing my hair with ... well, anything, really, anti-dandruff or no. My scalp and my dandruff at this point are in the worst state of the past two years and I thought at the end of the year 2014 that I cannot get any worse.
So I am keeping my fingers crossed for this one! It actually a good price, I got it for 9,40 USD or little under 8,50€ EUR, of course I need to add the shipping and the customs, but it is still a good price for a higher range shampoo. Let us hope it works as well.

Omnia Botanica Argan Oil
DM had 50% off coupon for this baby, so I gave it a go, otherwise I deem it too expensive. I use this for everything, dry spots on my face (although these will probably disappear now that I bought the face toner), for my hair ends and whenever I need some high end oil. I love the package, it comes with a dropper, for a really precise usage. I got it for 7,00€.

Derma E Soothing Toner
Like I said, huge fan of Derma E. This is my third toner I am trying from their line, and I am excited about it. Iherb had 20% off beauty products and naturally my favourite one got sold out, so I had perfect excuse to try this one (got it for about 9 €). If my previous experiences with Derma E are any indication, this will rock my world. Or skin, at least.

Derma E Visibly Clear Moisturiser
I am planning to use this at night. You could say my facial skin is demanding. I say it is a little diva bitch. It is dry on some areas, but if I use anything too moisturising, I get spots on other areas of my skin, not to mention the constant struggle with black spots. So I will give this a go during night. For 11,20€ is is actually one of the more affordable facial creams I bought in the past few years.

iHerb file for nails. I realised as I updated the photos it really looks like a free advertisement for the page, when I put it on like this. I like that it is green though. And I really like iHerb, I order there all the time.

Makeeee uppp!

Bourjois Volume Glamour MAX definition
So. IsaDora Big Bold Lashes is crap. Do not buy it, it smudges like crazy, and nothing EVER smudges under my eyes. Very disappointed. When Müller had its 20% off make up, I bought my favourite mascara so far, the monster-pink Bourjois and I am happy again. I think it is around 12€ normally, I got it for under 10€.

Essence Love & Sound black eyeliner with three points I bought because I thought it can be either really weird and bad or phenomenal. It is actually a good eyeliner! And I love the three lines. It doesn't actually show on my eyelid, but on the outer line it shows nicely. It was really cheap, especially with the 20% off it was under 2€.

And now for the biggest surprise I got from licila.si. TODAY! I never expected it, and they wanted it that way. I <3 MAKE UP I <3 obsession eyeshadow palette. JUST LOOK AT EEEET! Utterly gorgeous everyday colour set, that can be turned also in a nice soft smokey eyes for night (especially with a bold red/purple lip!), I cannot imagine a girl that would hate wearing these. I cannot wait to play with them, I will do a decent review ASAP. And another picture of I <3 obsession, because I lahv it.

So yeah, looks like May is going to be a fun month, with all the new gems and toys!

Why gorgeous thingies have you gotten for yourselves lately?

Have a wonderful week and thank you for reading and commenting!

I heart Makeup - Brow Kit ~ Fairest of them all

Hey girls! How are you doing? Every time I write that I say that in my head with Joey's voice, hah, it cannot be unheard. :) Today I  have for you the Eyebrow set I <3 Makeup did, called Fairest of them all. Licila.si, slovene online makeup store kindly sent me the set and I have been using it every day since the day I got my hands on it. I do not think I will search for another one ever again, this baby is just perfect for me, I am really happy with it.

I did a look a while ago, when I started testing the set, and took some pictures with it, to show you how it works on my brows. I have naturally strong brows, so I just fill them a bit, and then put the wax on and I really love how it sets the brows, they stayed this way whole day long, even when it was really hot. Usually when sweating the "browshadow" kind of disappears in couple of hours, but Fairest of them all stays put.

Package and what it contains

As you can see, there are three different shades in the set and a wax to fixate your brows. You get a small brush and small tweezers with it. The brush actually works very nicely. I tried tweezers just for fun, and they are not meant for a precise work, but if you missed a hair and it got longer, you will be able to pull it out with them. I think it is meant more for emergencies than anything else. I actually like the tiny mirror there as well, it works great for looking at your eyebrows only, but I do not really use it.
The package itself is sturdy, I move it twice a week with my luggage and the only thing that happened is, that the writing on the palette faded a bit. The eyeshadows do not break and the lid closes nicely, but not so hard you would need to struggle to open it.

How it looks on me
I use the darker brown for my eyebrows and then I put the wax on them to fixate it. This is a look I did a while ago, I adore my blues. :)

Wow, sorry for the bitch-please eyebrow on my second photo, haha. :)

Comparison with other eyebrow sets

And then I decided to try to make a comparison with other eyebrows sets, so you can compare the shades. From left to right it is I <3 Make up Fairest of them all, Makeup Revolution Lock&Load palette, Essence  Eyebrow set (the one with horrible package) and on the top is the Catrice Eyebrow Pencil Date With Ash-ton.

As you can see, the two lighter shades in the set are indeed very light, comparing to the other shades in other sets. For me the brown one works perfectly, as it is a mixture between Ash-ton and dark Essence shade. Plus it is not as dusty as the ones in Makeup Revolution and Essence sets nor does it fade away as quickly as Date With Ash-ton. And none of them are shimmery, that's just my ArtDeco primer.

You can get I heart Makeup Brow Kit Fairest of them all at licila.si for 4,95€ or their official site for £3.99. I am really happy with it, I can only recommend it.

What do you use for your eyebrows?

Spotlight on my favourites: Maybelline 24/7 Color Tattoo Eyeshadows

Hey everyone! Another Spotlight moment. I fell in love with Maybelline Color Tattoos when trying them as an eyeshadow base for eyeshadows. I bought first the black and the white one for that purpose, called Timeless Black and Infinite White and they worked absolutely fabulous. The eyeshadow colour is deeper, or brighter if you put it over white, it lasts forever and doesn't fade or crease. Naturally I started buying more shades when I saw how awesome they are. Next were the bronze and copper ones, called On and On Bronze and Metallic Pomegranate. The last two I bought were the purple Endless Purple and Mauve Crush.

The only thing that bothers me about these Tattoos is how inconsistent Maybelline is, with naming them and supplying them. If you go online, there are many shades we do not get and again some of the shades that we did get are renamed for some reason, or we have them in different colour but same colour group. Just ... what the hell, Maybelline, give us all the Tattoos and be done with it!

As mentioned before, I use them as secondary eyeshadow base, over a regular primer, to enhance the colour of eyeshadows. They work perfectly for that. The only shades I wear alone are Mauve Crush, On and on Bronze and Metallic Pomegranate and they work wonderfully like that as well.

As far as packaging goes, I like it, glass jars, big enough not to struggle with the application, whether you use your fingers or a brush. If you drop them on the tiles, they shan't break. I checked. :)

Timeless Black started to dry a bit in the jar, but it still gives great colour payoff. Mauve Crush is actually slightly duochromy, but my camera didn't capture that. It is why I bought it in the first place, the duochrome in it is yummy!

Swatches on the skin, in shade and on direct sunlight. All are done with two swipes, I used my fingers, although I like to use brush for them, especially when my nails grow longer.

From top to bottom:
Endless Purple: its pigmentation is the poorest, also application the hardest. I wouldn't wear that as an eyeshadow, simply because it applies patchy. It works well for under purple eyeshadow, though, it makes it pop out more. But don't buy it if you are looking for an eyeshadow in this shade, I wouldn't recommend it.

Infinite White: it is a very sparkly white base. I use it for under my brighter eyeshadows, to really make them stand out and it works wonderfully, no creasing, the application is easy, no problem. I actually wore it once as a combination with black eyeshadow, to make the big contrast, it worked great. A good sparkly white eyeshadow.

Mauve Crush: it is a cold cold icy blue, made of colourful shimmer, utterly gorgeous. I love this one, really. The only glitch in the Matrix with this one is, that it can crease a bit on a hot day, I wear it alone only in Fall and Winter. Works amazing with a black eyeliner.

On and On Bronze: a gorgeous bronze colour, that is really popular. The shade is great for neutral make up, it looks subtle, applies like heaven and stays on the lid for hours. Not a problem child. I like to use it as secondary base for neutral shades too.

Metallic Pomegranate: utterly gorgeous reddish copper with golden flecks. My favourite secondary base for MAC Cranberry, they work great together, but as an eyeshadow it looks amazing too. It has the same problem as Mauve Crush on me, though, it can crease a bit.

Timeless Black: a classic black matte. Does wonders for black/vampy smokey eyes, it really deepens the colour, either black or some sort of vampy colour, dark purple shimmer or dark blue shimmer. On my swatch it looks like it has a poor payoff, but I do not do it justice, even if it started to dry up a bit, it still works great, especially with a brush.

As far as I remember, I paid around 5 euros for each. A steal, really, they last forever and they are dead useful. I love them, I hope we get more shades soon (or I find them in a drugstore somewhere, as i did with Mauve Crush :)).

Do you like Maybelline Color Tattoo, do you recommend any shade in particular?

New In ~ A Haul Post

Hey everyone! Time for a new haul post, yay! This month I got a few things I've been wanting to get for quite a while. My first real paycheck and all that. ;) I got a few more packages, but I shan't show them on the blog, they are not beauty related, BUT they are for my costume for the sci-fi&fantasy convention in September and I cannot wait for it! :) I will probably do a separate post when I get all the "ingredients" if you'll be interested. :)

Let's see my lemmings!

A group photo!

Issey Miyake Pleats Please has been on my WL for quite a while. I have like a top 10 of perfumes that I adore, Pleats Please is always in the top 3, so when I saw the sale in our Müller, I decided to get it. I was supposed to get a document case with it, instead I got a cosmetic bag. Admittedly it is by far more useful to me, but it is also perfectly ugly to my eye. Still, I love the perfume and it's bottle. :)

At last, a face primer! I've been searching for this baby for a billion years and when I saw this post on gorgeous Mateja's blog I decided to get it immediately. Max Factor Face Finity All Day Primer with SPF 20. I won't write much about it, Mateja covered everything perfectly. I wore it contantly in the last week  and it really prolongs the wear of my foundation, which is perfect. :)

Art Deco Dita Von Teese palette with blusher and three eyeshadows. Boy oh boy, I wanted this so badly. When Dita did the collaboration with Art Deco I almost died, I wanted to have everything she put out with her name. I love Art Deco quality and I knew she wouldn't let some crap make up carry her name. Everything looked classy and the colours were gorgeous and the whole concept just brilliant. I got a lipstick back then and a few eyeshadows and I adore them all. But palette was just to expensive for me at that point and then of course it got discontinued rather fast. Lucky for me a girl at mojbutik.si started selling this palette a while ago and it was meant to be because it waited for me to get enough money and excuses to buy it. ;)

As you can see, blusher did not survived the shipping completely. I blame that on our stupid postman. The package was rather thick and no one in their right mind would try to shove it in our small mailbox. Except our postman. And he really needed to work for it, I'd wager. When I saw the package, I was sure nothing survived, but clearly AD has some sturdy products.
The eyeshadows are actually gorgeous, especially the dusty purple matte one, so I am thinking I will keep them, at least for a while, I did a combo with them only and I love it for a very soft everyday look.
Of course the palette is already full, I added my Dita Von Teese purple eyeshadow (Mystique) and the ultimate black matte eyeshadow I adore.

Oh, and the price for three AD eyeshadows, a blusher and a limited edition palette? 13 eur. Epic bargain. Aaand I also got a gift with my purchase:

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse dry oil. My first! Late to the party much? I know. Everybody loves this little potion and I can't wait to try it on my hair. I cannot use it on my skin, it is too oily, but my Mom definitively will, I think she will love it. The smell in unbelievable, I adore it already.

And again something for the hair. I bought the yellow balls on a whim, it is suppose to make your hair curly without a heater. I bought them at Born Pretty Store, they are called Yellow Lovely Soft Sponge DIY Lady Hair Curler Roller Ball. I tried them once but I disliked how they tugged on my hair when I tried to remove them, I felt them snap, because they get stuck in the sponge. And the final effect isn't really good. Maybe there is a learning curve, I gave up after that one try.

The second tool for hair I love. Topsy Tail Hair Braid Ponytail DIY Maker Styling Tool. I only use the bigger one, it helps to do a bit different ponytail and I really like it, it is easy to use and there is million tutorials online for it. There are pictures on the paper board as well, but the description is in Chinese so it is useless for me, as the pictures are of bad quality. Nevertheless, it is a nice product.

And finally, my last lemming for this post: Tangle Teezer Compact Styler! As I decided I will put more into my care for my hair, I needed a good brush as well. The comb I used was really crappy and it created static on my hair, as if they weren't frizzy enough. Tangle Teezer is awesome! I bought compact one because I move from one city to another often, and it is awesome. Small, but not too small, and the cover is just a brilliant addition.

See, tiny!

Lots of lemmings killed. :) And what did you get this month?

Makeup Revolution Lock & Load palette review and looks

Hello darlings! How are you doing? Today I have a long overdue review for you. In the latest package I received from licila.si, I got also a pocket-sized palette called Lock&Load. Colours looked absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't wait to try them ASAP. This post is going to be a bit picture heavy, since I made three looks for the review only and I tried to make decent swatches and all in all - it's good to have pictures of the eyeshadows in reviews, right? It is quite a lenghty post as well, I tried to break it into subchapters with titles, hope that helps.

The post will be in English, however, there is going to be a short summary in Slovene in the end. I would love to do the complete translation as I did the first time, but I seriously lack time, so I am shamelessly stealing the elegant idea of a summary from a lovely Slovene blogger Petra from Adjusting Beauty, I do hope she wouldn't mind. :)

The package, as shown previously.

About the packaging
The palette is quite small - if you don't count the sharp edges of it, it's the same size as my cell phone, comparing to Sleek and MUA palettes it is cca. 1 centimetre shorter and about 0,5 cm narrower and thinner. The pans are a bit small, with a wider brush you need to be a bit careful when grabbing the eyeshadow. It opens on a button and it opens and closes well, I first thought I'll need tweezers to open it, as I do with most of my palettes, but I do not, and my nails are safe! Extra points for that!

The eyeshadows do not have any names, alas, I like it when they do. There is a rich choice of 14 shades and two eyebrow colours in it. I like the choice of colours they put in, there isn't too many neutral ones, but enough that you can use it for everyday look as well, but there are some really awesome bolder, colourful ones in there. Honestly, when I saw the set, my head almost exploded from all the possibilities and combinations.

The looks
I did three looks for this review only, otherwise I use the eyeshadows quite regularly. First look I did with the copper eyeshadow, which is IMO a total winner of this palette, it is a total stunner. Naturally I need to try the blue one as well (love the copper&blue combination) and then I used the blue-purple one for a pop of colour.

I loved this look, the colours are stunning. I also used the dark eyebrow colour on my eyebrows and I liked the effect.

The second look I did with the greens and the darker browns.

Excuse the bluish  tinge on the middle photo, I do not know what happened. Ah, but I do love green eyeshadow. :) I used the Essence black eyeliner here as well. Both greens were used and both shimmery browns above the dark green.

The last is a neutral one, with all brown eyeshadows. It is also a look that photographed the hardest, I just cannot take a decent photo of a neutral look, it always looks too faded. It looked better IRL.

WTH did I do with my eyebrows for this look? Or didn't do. Sheesh. Sorry! Anyway, for this I used the first four eyeshadows on the left side of the palette.

All the eyeshadows perform really well throughout the day, they do not fade away, and they started to crease only after entire day of wearing, after 7+ hours. My eyelids are oily, I always use primer (ATM ArtDeco one), usually also a cream eyeshadow, to make the colours pop.

Swatches on my hand
And my try and the swatches of the set. All the swatches are made over primer and with two brush swipes.

Pigmentation
The left side of the palette is really well pigmented, with only chalkier black eyeshadow. The right side loses the battle thanks to the matte brown and purple eyeshadows and again chalky black with tiny sparkles. The mattes really give poor pigmentation, especially the purple one. The shimmers are gorgeously pigmented and easy to use.

The eyebrow set
If you are curious of how the eyebrow set compares to Essence set, I did a quick photo of it. You can also see how disastrous my Essence set looks like and why I hate their packaging.

The set crumbles if you only look at it wrong. Horrible. The dark eyeshadow in Lock & Load is a bit lighter, comparing to the darker one in Essence, which is perfect for me, as the Essence one was a tad bit too dark (but still manageable), so I will gladly use the one in the palette instead. The light one in the L&L however, looks a bit too yellowish to my taste, but maybe it works for fair ladies?

Dupes of HE eyeshadows?
I also read on a blog somewhere Lock & Load is supposed to be a decent almost-dupe to Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette. Looking at the swatches at Phyrra's, I can't say I agree with that. Perhaps you get a good twin to the shades Betrayal (that one is kind of spot on, actually), Rewind, Habit, Dope and Ambush; but I wouldn't really call them dupes and the rest are not even close. So if you are looking for a good dupe for Vice 2, Lock and Load might not be the right address, unless you are looking for Betrayal dupe, those two are pretty close.

To sum up ...
All in all I think this is really a lovely palette. The pans could be bigger, to be more comfortable for applying, but as this is supposed to be your "travel" palette, it is smaller and more compact, so you can't really argue with that. The real gem of the palette is definitively the copper shade, it is absolutely stunning and extremely well pigmented and easy to use. The second and third favourite certainly are the dark blue and the purple-blue ones, but the greens and the browns are lovely as well. I am not too fond of the both black eyeshadows in here, as they are a bit chalky and I really want my black eyeshadows to be pitch black. Plus the mattes are not well pigmented and they dust like hell, luckily there's only three of them (light brown, black and purple). :) The highlighter colour and the eyebrow shades are good too, so all in all there are definitively more pros than cons to the palette.

Where to buy
Slovene ladies can get the palette at licila.si for 5.95€, at the Makeup Revolution site it costs £4.00. I would recommend it to you for shimmery shades, especially the already mentioned copper, blue and blurplish one. Do not grab it for the matte ones. It is a sturdy palette, smaller, great for taking it around with you (as I did and do, since I move from one city to another quite frequently lately), with a nice combo of colours, for neutral or bolder look. Although it is supposed to be a travel size palette it doesn't have a mirror, but it does take care of your eyebrows in one go, so there's a plus. :)

What do you think about Lock & Load? Do you have it, have any other Makeup Revolution palette you can recommend? :)

Thank you for reading and commenting!

*I got the products as a gift, unconditionally, from licila.si (even the post itself was not demanded).

Makeup Revolution Base! eyeshadow and Amazing Curl mascara review

Hey everyone! Again a review of Makeup Revolution products I received kindly from Slovenian online store licila.si. Today I have for you a make up look I did with mono eyeshadow called Base! and their mascara Amazing Curl in Ultra Black shade.

First of all, when I opened the package and saw the eyeshadow, I was rather sure it is poorly pigmented and therefore good for highlighting and perhaps even blending only. Imagine my surprise when I tried it and realised it is so well pigmented I can wear it as a main eyeshadow on my eyes.
As far as mascara is concerned, my eyelashes are not my best feature, so I need a little extra in my mascaras for them to work. Amazing Curl is extremely dry mascara, therefore it requires a lot of work with it in order to look presentable.

This is the look I did with the Base! as my main eyeshadow. I put Amazing Curl mascara on my left eye and my Bourjois Twist Up the Volume on my right eye. They might look similar, but I want to point out I did only two swipes with Bourjois mascara - one with the straight bristles and one with the twisted ones; and needed to do about four or five of them with Amazing Curl mascara, as it is SO DRY!! The reason why I compare them in this manner is also because I opened them at about the same time, and usually with new mascaras the trouble is that they are too wet in the beginning but gradually they become drier and you can use them normally. Makeup Revolution Amazing Curl is so dry right now that it feels like any other mascara right before you toss it in the bin.

Base! is this wonderful light champagne colour that works for me so well, it opens my eyes, it is subtle and yet bright enough to make your eyes pop a bit. Fantastic for everyday look, or to highlight your evening look. Versatile and well pigmented, you can use it for just about any look. I use it for this look most often and I wear it a couple of times a week, because it is fast, it is subtle and perfect for work and it opens up my eyes, I feel like I look really fresh and rested, even if I am not. :)

This is just one swipe with a brush, over a primer.

I love the packaging, it works well but does not require my nails to break in order to open it, plus it looks nice. The logo will come off rather soon, I think, but I do not really care about that.

And now Amazing Curl Mascara:

I actually like the slightly curved head of the mascara, it hugs my inner corner rather nicely. It is similar to MUA Extreme Curl mascara I once bought. But it is basically the only thing I liked on both of them. Makeup Revolution Amazing Curl is too dry and it consequently requires way to much work for mascara to look proper on my eyelashes. Applying it 4 or 5 times can also mean you ruin the make up look, because your eyelashes can get glued together, or you smudge your eyelids, which I basically always do with Amazing Curl.
I think the package is ok, nothing special, but it does its job. It is a plastic black tube, nothing too revolutionary, but I couldn't care less, if the mascara would be good. But I would not recommend it, even if it is really cheap, unless you have naturally perfect eyelashes, I do not think this mascara will work for you.

You can buy Makeup Revolution Mono Eyeshadow Base! on licila.si for only 1,95€, and on Makeup Revolution site for £1. Makeup Revolution Amazing Curl mascara is available on licila.si for 2,95€ (it is currently sold out), or on the official site for £2

In short, I would really recommend the Base! eyeshadow and I will definitively try some other eyeshadows from Makeup Revolution, as the pigmentation of Base! really pleasantly surprised me. However, Makeup Revolution Amazing Curl I would not buy nor recommend.

Did you try any of their eyeshadows, any recommendations? Did you have a better experience with the Amazing Curl mascara or any other they offer?
