Matte winter frost lace mani

Whoa, would you believe the stupidity of the title? I have no idea how to name this mani. :) In the last few days I fell in love with Inspired by Winter posts Taya is posting (I'm trying to recreate this today for a night out, j'adore!) and while I was trying to watch an incredibly stupid movie about going to the north pole, the screen being all white and frosty, I wanted to occupy myself with something cool and the idea of winter helped to create this mani.

I used the water decals I've already shown you and I must say, I prefer water decals over nail stickers, they are so easy to use and they last on the nails for days. Other than that, Deborah Milano was already a matte, I put matte TC over the decal, and I mattefied the gorgeous Misa Grey Matters, one of my favourite shades ever. Why I do not have more Misa in my stash, I will never know, their polish is amazing.

My matte TC is the Essence one, I think it is already discontinued and I hate that, because it is perfect and I already spent more than half of it. The rest I already described. It was actually a very easy mani to make, because both Deborah Milano and Misa are great, opaque in two coats (DM might need only one, actually), water decal sticks to the nail in no time (I needed to cut half of it for my short nails, still, I love the way they look), and you put your matte TC on et voila!

What is on your nails today?

Misa - Grey Matters

Hey people! How are you doing? I'm tired but good. :) I just discovered Blogger changed the commenting system so I can reply directly to your comment. That's SO awesome, I wanted to change the system solely because of that and now they did it. Yay!

But let's look at the awesome, awesome polish Misa gave us in their latest collection. I remember someone looking forward to my pictures of it in Phazers on Stunning post and I still haven't posted it until today. *sigh* The beauty that is Grey Matters:

I freakishly love this. Grey with black specks. AWESOME! I think Scrangie's description is spot on - it looks like bird eggs and it's really cute because of that. It's a part of Misa Surreal Escape Collection for Winter 2011. I had no troubles with application, two easy coats. It lasted for a very long time with minor tip wear too! Awesomely gorgeous colour. I love Misa.

Did you get any colours from this collection?

Misa - Hot Couture

Hey people! On my previous post the first comment was about Misa Hot Couture and I realized I haven't shown you this beauty before. BTW, the commentator, as I discovered after clicking her nickname, has an amazing set of nails and amazing set of photos on her blog, The Scholarly Nail. New blog to me, but I fell in love with it yesterday, I recommend checking it out. :)

So, Misa Hot Couture. One of those polishes I get in Kris' packages that surprise me, thinking it's not really a me colour and then I put it on and it's 100% love (also one of the reasons why I call her the expert on "my colours"). But I was immediately drawn to Hot Couture. It's such an unusual colour, I couldn't wait to try it on. It looks amazing on the nails. It feels like a yellowish nude, being yellow enough not to bore me. It reminds me of Winnie the Pooh and cosequently of honey and that's why I love this polish even more. Major, major win, Misa.

Hot Couture is a part of Misa Runway collection. I have no idea when it was released, but it's an older one. The Polish Addict says in 2008 that it was released several seasons ago. I didn't even know it existed before I got Hot Couture. Other colours in the collection are classy, but I wouldn't buy them, we've seen too many of those shades already, but Hot Couture is a winner.
It's a two coater, the application was good, I didn't have any troubles with the polish. I understand this is one of those colours people either love or hate. I adore fugly colours with a bit of edge so it's a great discovery for me.

How are you with fugly colours? A fan, or do you get, like a lot of people all kinds of more or less repulsive assotiations with the colours?

Thank you for reading, have a great Sunday evening!

Born Pretty Store review m69 plate

Hello people! How are you doing? I'm finally posting this review. I am so late with it I actually feel bad about it. After I got the plate (the package appearantly got lost somewhere on the way and it took longer for it to get to me) I went on my blogging break due to the studies and now that I got back to blogging I still didn't have enough time for my plan on this review. I planned to do each pattern in seperate post, having at least 3 manis done with it. Since now I'm back to my studies, I realize this is not going to happen this year. So let's make this the official Born Pretty Store review with extra linking on every design I'll do from now on with the plate, making them little reviews too, deal?

I'm showing you what I already created with this plate and my experience with stamping. With this plate it's basically the first time I tried stamping and liked it. Since I'm sure you all know your stamping and are admiring the same bloggers simply rocking the whole stamping deal as I am (yeah, I'm looking at you, Ohh Shinies!), you'll immediately notice my stamping is still rookie stamping.

So let's see some observations of a rookie that just might help another rookie out. :)

  • Stamping actually takes a lot less time than full scotch tape mani.
  • Practice makes perfect. Seriously, the more you do it, the better will you get.
  • Born Pretty Store plates have the design cut deep enough you actually pick up the pattern.
  • It's fun! I used to think it's just a lot of work, but it's really fun! :)
All in all, I can only recommend buying from Born Pretty Store. They're really really nice and helpful and their prices are very low. Plus the choice they have of plates is almost endless: click! IMHO they also make a very awesome place for your Chirstmas/NY gift shopping.

Pictures!

Misa Grey Matters with Brucci Sapphire. My latest mani too, I loved it. :)

Misa Hot Couture with Catrice Back to Black. This is the pattern I don't really understand. What is it suppose to be? Well, Hot Couture reminded me of Winnie The Pooh and the pattern of honeycomb, so this is what came out.

Finger Paints Give Pink A Chance with Color Club Hot Like Lava and Cold Metal. You've already seen this. I wish I would do the blue pattern on all my nails ... oh well, next time!

Essence Barefoot Thorugh The Moss with BB Couture Clyde. My very first try and I disliked how I couldn't capture the tiny dots.

The funny thing about the whole deal is, I didn't use my favourite pattern on this plate, wanting to do an awesome green combo and ran out of time. That one is waiting for the proper moment, the idea is running in my head for way too long.

What do you think of stamping? Are you a fan? Did you shop at Born Pretty Store yet? Any suggestions what I should buy when I place my order?

Thank you Born Pretty Store for providing me the plate for the review!

Misa - Phazers on Stunning

Heya! I'm going to be rather short today, I don't have much time. It's December the 1st and it hit me with full force I have two exams in a month. Panic? Oh yea.

I've always thought Misa isn't getting the love she ought to get, so I'm going to say it again: Misa rocks! Sure, they had some quiet time (that still wasn't as quiet as OPIs IMHO), but they remain, next to Nubar and China Glaze, the brand that came out with a collection I want to have as a whole and I think that's a major achievement.
I'm wearing Grey Matters as I type this for the second day now and I'm not tired of it at all, it's so perfect. Grey Matters and Phazers on Stunning are the only two from their Winter 2011 Surreal Escape collection, but they are so perfect they're getting solo posts.

Phazers on Stunning. Love!

I need to wear it over black, to see if the duochrome effect gets even stronger. This is three coats, the application was good (i was worried about it, Scrangie said it's a bit tricky, but I didn't have problems with it) and the duochrome effect is very strong, cool strong green colour and redish brown compliment each other wonderfully, plus the silver specks are a major win.

I think this is a must-have, really. Gorgeous shade. Did you get any colours from Surreal Escape collection?

Thank you for reading!

Paket petek

Isn't it awesome I can do another Paket petek (Package Friday)?? You know why it's awesome? That's right, because that means Ulmiel got a package full of goodies this week!

The customs sent their love right before I went on my roadtrip. I wasn't very happy about it, since basically, I could have had the package already in my hands, if there wasn't for the customs procedure. Oh well ... they finally sent it right on the day I got back to Slovenia, so when I got home, the package awaited me. Torn, poorly stuck together with a short piece of duct tape and with two (!) polishes completely out of the bubble wrap (you know, so they could easily hit each other and break, why make it hard for them and unwrap only one?)! Not only did they tear it, they took them out and didn't bother at all to wrap them again. Can I mention too that one of these two was one of my biggest lemmings in nail polish ever, Nubar Greener? My wrath disturbed the Force that day, really. Not for long though, I got SO happy about the package, it was pure and utter perfection. I love my swap buddy, seriously, she rocks.

Not one but TWO from *the* Nubar collection for me, Greener and Forest! I honestly couldn't sit anymore when I saw them in the package. The entire package is perfect, but these two really made me go

The gif was probably nicked from the awesome Kaz (Pretty Random). She puts cool stuff like this on the blog, making me laugh like hell.

As for the eyeshadows. I know, I know. I keep telling everyone who is willing to listen I have a strict no-buy in eyeshadow department. And now this. I blame it on Kelly (Vampy Varnish). Who can say no to a product she presents so amazingly in her post? Not me, no sir. And they really are great.

Perfect package, yes. What did you get in your latest package? Do tell, don't be shy!

Thank you for reading!

Misa - Quirky Smile

Heya people! Ever get this feeling, when you get a polish and you love it so much that you simply have to talk about the gorgeousness of it? And all you get from your mother is the roll-eye with 'here she goes again' expression, from your BF a short comment a la "it should be darker" and none of your nail-polish junkie friends are available? Well, honeys, that's why I started the blog and Misa's Quirky Smile is one of those polishes!

I got it in my latest swap package with Mrs. Awesomness and I can't wait to show it to you. As you probably noticed I'm showing you mostly my older manis, I'm trying to go chronologically, but every once in a while a new one will jump at you. And Quirky Smile is the one I cannot wait to show you! Funny though, I haven't even known it existed until ... I dunno a couple of months ago? I saw it at Alizarine Claws and fell in love with it, put it on my WL and basically forgot about it. My study time, new collections ... you know, too much awesome polish, too little memory. When I got it I just stared at the bottle for a minute. So. Gorgeous. But on the nails ... that's love, I think. Quirky Smile is easily one of my favourite discoveries of this year. Pictures!

Quirky Smile is a part of Misa What I Like About You Collection for Fall 2010. A collection that didn't really made on my WL. Perhaps a couple of colours are buyable to me. But what surprised me is how completely it skipped my radar. I mean, Quirky Smile not on my WL until this spring? Maybe also because, ladies (and gents), this is one of those that pictures just don't do them justice. See how it looks on the photos? Well, imagine it 235 times better on the nails. Especially off direct sunlight. Also, the purple flash is somewhat visible on the nails, if you know how to turn them. But what I adore the most on Quirky Smile is the richness of the teal shimmery colour. It's so rich and heavy, like having melted jewels on your nails. Such an epic win.

The formula. Ah, the Misa formula. How much I missed it. This is the second Misa I own, and I want moar!! I mentioned before, I like my formulas on the runny side, and this one is a bit runny, but still completely managable, actually it makes polishing fun! Completely opaque in two coats, and I rarely get that! There is not a fault on this baby. It's perfect. Not to mention Misa still remains one of my favourites (if not my favourite) when it comes to bottle shape. I love the squareness of it with long cap.

All in all Quirky Smile reminds me of Toxic Seduction, also by Misa, on my top 5 of all greens I know or own. It's like her teal sister, but the awesomness they bring feels the same. I cannot tell you how much I love this polish.

Any teal lovers out there? How about Misa lovers? Both? Neither?

Misa - Toxic Seduction

Hello darlings! How are you on this wonderful day? I really love sunny days, I'm full of energy and even don't have troubles with getting up (and trust me, that's a big achievement for a sleepy-head such as myself). And I miss having more time for blogging! I used to think it would be an exception, me not posting every day, but I see that the more school work I have, more often it happens I skip a day on blogging. But! I'm thinking of ya. ;) I got today the first Crackle Glaze, the überfantastic Lighting Bolt and I started my day with a cup of coffee with Tevta, so yeah. Lots of studying ahead of me today, but it's a great day nevertheless. But to the nail polish. Have you seen the new BB Couture collection? Kellie (Also Known As...) has them already up on her blog, ladies and gentlemen. I love two in the Gods part and three to four in the Goddess part, so all in all half of the entire collection looks pretty darn good, which makes it for me a strong collection. But then again, it's BB Couture. :)

But on to what I have for you today. It's one of my lemmings, now killed, and I absolutely worship it. THE Misa, called Toxic Seduction, I cannot imagine you haven't seen or heard of it already, but I'm going to show it to you again, since well - it's a lemming killed, and I absolutely worship it.

See the shimmer in it, see it see it?? AWESOME!
Aaand the shimmer on the sunlight, ON FIRE! Because this one just wasn't beautiful enough already.

The pictures are a mixture of direct sunlight, natural light and one of the lightbox, I think. Just to show you that Toxic Seduction is one of the best polishes out there in every situation. This was two coats, extremely easy to work with, I remembered with this one how much I love Misa's brush. Application was more than awesome, and a bit OT - for me Misa's bottle is one of the best shaped bottles out there. Really like the proportions of the square bottles and the thin, long cap. Love it.
Toxic Seduction is a part of Misa's Poisoned Passion Collection for Fall 2008. Extremely strong collection, I'd say, with 5 out of 6 colours I'm dying to have, the last one left out only because I have so many of them already. But basically I love the entire collection. 6 out of 6, people!! I don't remember a collection where I loved all the shades! I just might get the Love Bite (the only one I'd pass on, because I have like 3 or 4 shades in that alley already) so I can have the entire package. Gorgeous, superb job on these, Misa! And Toxic Seducion is for me the star of this collection. What's not to love, anyway? It's stunning, it's green in every light, it's, at least to my eyes, unique, with wonderful application and you get it for more than a decent price. Wow, this sounds like I'm getting payed from Misa, lol. I'm not, as you know, I got this beauty in a swap from wonderful Kris and I can't thank her enough for sending me this one!

What do you think about Toxic Seduction? Do you have any colours from Poisoned Passion, do you feel it's a strong collection? Oh, what about the new BBs? :)
Thank you for reading!

My thoughts on ... new Misa and Zoya collections

Let me start with Misa and Zoya. Everybody in nail polish world already know about the collections, so i won't lose to much words on the pictures and describing it. I was super excited when I say the bottles of Misa's Spark my Interest. They looked ... sparkly!
source: vampyvarnish.com
See?
When I saw the swatches bitter disappointment came. The colors are cute, yes. But nothing that we haven't seen already. And sparkle? Where? In swatches that I saw (Lacquerized) sparkles are down to a minimum and the whole collection looks kinda ... cheap. My favourite is Date Nights To Twilight, as it will be of many, but nothing that I don't already own or have on WL and that from cheaper labels. From the collection, that includes mainly my colours and it should be sparkly and, well "a must have" for me, there is nothing that I haven't already seen. In better version. With sparkles! And I hate that! I hate it when label goes safe and just follows trends instead creating new ones. Misa gave us Toxic Seduction, so I can't say I didn't have large expectations ... alas, no WOW! reactions from my side.

Zoya's Fire and Ice is, as it seems, on every nail blog. :) The spooning is used now also for teasers, and, my oh my, do those spoons look nice! And sparkly! :)

I'm seriously looking forward to Valerie (the purple one), but Gloria and Tiffany just may be the great surprise for me, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for these three colours. All in all I'm loving Zoya's nail polish. So many of them on my wish list, I don't even dare to count them anymore. It rarely disappoints and I'm looking forward to every new collection they make.
