NOTD: Myrza envies the lemondrops

Heya everyone! Can I get an extra point for making up a silly name for this mani? :) As I showed you yesterday, I got a lovely package of nail polish. And when I got them out, I couldn't decide which one to put on first. So I just combined three of them, although I wanted the fourth one there too - the Kiwi one. The three I combined were Barielle Myrza's Meadow and Lemondrops plus Color Club Glitter Envy.

First, Barielle Myrza's Meadow. It was my lemming for years and finally I got it. And I was so happy to see it didn't disappoint. It is on my nails right now and I still love it. The shade of jade green is perfect and the scattered holo glitter is fine and on the subtle side once on the nails, it is a wonderful combination. Needs only two coats too. It was part of Barielle Spring 2010 Wildflower Collection. Now I am on the hunt for June Bug from the same collection.

Barielle Lemondrops is a perfect bright yellow creme. I searched for something like this a while now. For a yellow polish it is very easy to work with. It needs two coats on most of my nails, on the longest a third, but on shorties two will be enough. I love the brightness! It was part of Barielle Summer 2009 Collection. Apparently there was a re-release in Summer 2013, but judging by my bottle, it is from the older collection. :)

Last, Color Club Glitter Envy is really bright neonish green with holographic glitter in it that is quite dense. It applies easily in two coats, and it is somewhat gritty, but nothing too extreme. What was my biggest disappointment with this nail polish was that it chipped in like two days. And I mean major chipping, up to one third of my nail. It looked even worse since both Barielles still looked perfect right next to it. I will wear it again for sure to test it again, but ATM it is not my favourite nail polish. It was a part of Color Club Summer 2011 Starry Temptress Collection, in this one I love Otherworldly as well.

When Glitter Envy chipped so terribly I removed it and put Lemondrops on instead. I love this combo even more.

Barielle, man. I need more Barielle in my life. :) And I am already tempted to put water decals over Lemondrops.

What is on your nails today? Any particular Barielle shade you would recommend?

Random Sunday post with space nails

Hey people. I read a lot of these random posts on my favourite blogs, and I always love them. And I feel like writing one, because why not. :) It has been a lovely weekend, that started on Thursday already, we went to Central Slovakia to a small city named Brezno. We watched a lot of movies (Incendies I must mention, I recommend it, it is brilliant and shocking), baked marshmallows on the fire in the fireplace, ate A LOT and had tons of fun. It was a slow weekend, we planned a lot of sightseeing of lots of castles, but thanks to weather and the fact that a lot of them were under renovation (my castle lemming, Čachtice, are closed until May 2014), we just kinda stayed put, went for long walks around Brezno and around the town (in the constant light rain, but nevertheless).

I changed my nail polish today after a couple of days, I chose an oldie but goodie, Eyeko Cosmic polish, black with holo glitter. Gorgeous polish.

Three coats plus TC. Middle photo for sparkle check.

During these last few days I read John Green's The Fault In Our Stars, and I still cannot stop thinking about it. This is such a perfection of a book. And I feel exactly like the quote from this very book:

"Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book." (John Green, The Fault In Our Stars)

This is how I feel, I can't stop talking about this book, I already told most of my friends about it and talked endlessly about it to my poor mother ... seriously, just read it. I cried my effing eyes out in the end, but laughed out loud often during the reading. My BF found me crying when finishing the book, and was shocked, asking why the hell am I crying, and I told him it is about the book and he looked at me puzzled, saying: "But haven't you been laughing all the time while reading it earlier?" Yes. That's The Fault in Our Stars. And I love it, John Green is already first on my "read everything they wrote" list.

And to finish the randomness, the song of this Sunday. I have it on repeat since we drove back to Blava. Amorphis - Drowned Maid

How is your Autumn going so far?

Have a great week!

A holographic duo

Hello my dear people! How are you doing? I finished my exams around two weeks ago, started enjoying my vacation while searching for a summer job (very bad timing for that in Slovenia) and enjoyed three days of blissful peace surrounded by mountains this weekend. It was neat! Today I am already back at the computer, this time searching for a room in Bratislava! I am going on a student exchange program there, yay! So if any of Slovak readers are still sticking to this blog of mine, and can help me with any information about renting a room, I will be most grateful! My email is up there in the contacts!
I love Slovakia, I visited it a couple of years ago and fell in love with it. It will be my first time in Bratislava and I can hardly wait for it! :)

But to the nails of this post ... lately I have grown fond of what I call duo manicure. Because it is composed of two different colours. I'm a very shrewd mammal, aye. Seriously though, I like the combo. I will show you both hands. Plus, I love how OPI DS Glamour looks with Jade Holografico Hypnose! Cool colours!

Are you wearing holographic polish now more often, thanks to the sunny days?

Hits ~ Zeus

Another gorgeous holo for this beautiful sunny day. It's a holiday today in Slovenia, but i have to study my butt off and then I have dance practise in the evening. I can't wait, to tell you the truth, I missed having regular workout routine during the past few months. And with this beautiful weather we are having, I can go out and start jogging and all, yay! I prefer to jog right after the sun goes down, so I jog in twilight. Also because I get red in the face really fast and then people, who pass me by, look at me like I am about to faint, although I feel just fine. For some odd reason that bothers me, maybe because I do not have the confidence of a jogger yet. ;) Doesn't matter, what I need to show you today is Hits beauty called Zeus. Scrangie said about it "if you missed out on the original version of OPI My Private Jet, this is practically the same thing, only a little bit better". I did missed out on the My Private Jet hype, but I have worn it, the original and the brown version, that I have borrowed from a friend. And I can only agree, Zeus is more holographic, at least as far as I can recall.

Even in faint evening light, this beauty still shimmers with holographic effect, only the strongest holos in my stash are able to do that.

The brush is less than good, it is wonky and stiff. I had worse but I also had much much better. It can be seen on some of my nails, that is why it bothers me. But ok, it is manageable. I put two to three coats, depends on the nail. I love it, I really do. It is an amazing black holo, just what I craved from My Private Jet and Revvvolution phase on. :)

Do you like black holos, do you have one or a favourite?

Hits ~ Hera

Hey guys! Today's beautiful day called for a holografic polish! And since I had this gorgeous deep teal holo waiting in my small group of untrieds, I gave it a go. Hera is a part of Speciallita Hits no Olimpo Holographic collection and is utterly gorgeous. My lemming for DV8 is finally dead.

The sun washes off a bit of teal base colour, this is in fact a gorgeous deep teal holo and a very strong holo effect it has as well! I needed only two coats, the brush was good as well. A very cool polish indeed. Thanks, Eveline!

What do you think? Getting sick of holo effect? :)

Thank you for reading!

Jade Holografico ~ Energy

Oh yes, it's a beautiful sunny day here in Ljubljana! I feel much better just with having some sunlight, even if I have a lot of work to do, looking through the window makes me cheerful today. :) When I got up I also got serious craving to wear a holographic, possibly because I was able to photograph it in all its beauty. And, I mean, I have Brazilian holos just sitting there on the table, waiting for brighter days, that's kinda heretic, isn't it? I picked Jade Holografico named Energy. Please bear in mind this is in fact bluish teal, not bright blue.

And a video, because there is no way to properly show you the intense holografic effect Energy has on photos.

Energy is my first Jade to every try out and I am really impressed by their application. There was no trouble whatsoever with it, formula is really nice and the brush is great. I needed three coats for full opacity, you know I don't like VNL, but it went really fast due to the great application. The holo effect is amazing. It looks so great, plus it does not need a lot of light to be nicely visible. Naturally it goes insane on direct sunlight. The base colour is teal on the blue side, but I don't think I captured that properly, add a drop of green to the colour in the photos. Anyway, a lovely surprise from Brazil. I didn't even pick one Jade polish, but Eveline said I need it in my life. She was right. :)

Do you have Jade polish, do you like it? Are you still crazy about holo effect or has the hype calmed down a bit? :)

Thank you for reading, have a wonderful Sunday!

Nubar - Earth and complete Going Green collection

Heya people! Late hour again. My biorhythm has changed again with all the studying, I see. I get up after noon, and am wide awake after two a.m. Well, I've always been more of a night bird anyway. Tonight I want to show you the very last beauty from Going Green collection, Earth. I could have been cool and post it on Earth day but decided I'm going to miss that opportunity.

Going Green as a whole is a big big lemming killed. And I'm wondering. Do you have collection lemmings too? When entire collection is so perfect, you really want them all? When I got the Going Green collection with major help of my amazing swap buddy (thanks again for that!!), I started to think what makes the collection perfect for me. And I realised it's about my favourite things in nail polish world. Nubar Going Green is obviously singing to my huge green obsession. It also has a duo/multichrome, a holo, a rich creme, an insanely rich green shimmer and insanely rich teal shimmer. You basically cover everything, Nubar.
The two collections I want as a whole (although they're not that big lemmings as GG was) cover my love for glass flecked finish and sexy rich dark shimmers. I'm talking about China Glaze Summer Days (noone does glass fleck like China Glaze!) and Misa Poisoned Passion. So basically, a collection covers one of my loves in polish world so well, I can't say no to a colour. Do you get like that too? :)

But to the pictures! Earth is gorgeous! No matter how you take that sentence, it's true to the core. :) And although it looks quite close to Conserve in the bottle, you'll see they're really different.

Two easiest coats, this formula was pure perfection. No clean up, no nothing, one of those polishes you grab if you're in an insane hurry because they'll work fast for you. Just beauty on the nail, and I simply adore how rich and heavy the shimmer is on this polish (heavy in a good way, naturally!)

And just for fun, let's have Earth's brothers here in this post too. Since seeing them all together makes me happy and all. :)

 Nubar Conserve

 Nubar Forest

 Nubar Greener

 Nubar Reclaim

Nubar Wildlife

And just because it's 1:30 a.m. here and I can't stop listening to this gorgeous song:

Fates Warning - The Roads Goes On Forever

Thank you for reading! Have a good night (or a lovely day, if you're reading this with Sun already up :))!

Kiko 255 and 296

Hey people! How are you doing on this beautiful sunny day? Hope you're having a good one! As already mentioned, I have tons of stuff to show you, so I'm combining colours of the same brands in one post. It's more interesting that way too, I think.

Today I have another two Kikos. I've shown you couple of colours before and I must say, their quality still impresses me. The formula and the brush and the colours. All of them awesome. So if you get the chance to grab a few bottles, do not hesitate!

First the number 255. I dare say this is the star of Kiko line. Everybody seems to love this colour. And so did I on the swatches. On my hands, alas, not so much.

Don't ask me why I didn't like it, I don't know. It's not like I hated it ... just didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Great formula though! I needed three coats. Oh yes, I did a video of all the sparkling for ya too:

And now the second one, called, very originally, 296. A wonderful bright spring green. That was a bit of a diva to photograph.

Take the first almost-neon photo and then calm it down a bit, but not as much as it is on the other two photos. Then you get the vibrancy that is 296! It's a really bright green, but not neon. My kind of green! Formula, of course, superb. Two coats. I freakishly loved this one. Must wear it again asap.

So yeah ... Kiko is really great. I wish they'd bring them to Slovenia too. What's your experience with Kiko?

Thank you for reading!

Awesome mani for an awesome day!

Heya my dear, dear people! How are you doing? It's a beautiful sunny day here in Ljubljana and my day just rocks. I passed a very very hard exam today, can I get an invisible high five here? :) I feel 152036 pounds lighter, haha!
Of course, when I came home I looked at my nails, having a beautiful but so tired mani on them (because of the studying I can't remember the exact duration of it, but I think it lasted for 6 days without chipping (you can imagine my nail-growth showing though)!) I said: today I need a celebration mani! And sunny day just called for a holo polish that I didn't wear for months now, probably. And the awesomest holo polishes in my stash being Nubar Reclaim and O.P.I. DS Glamour, I of course pondered over the two. Glamour won. Just because I've been neglecting the poor beauty for far too long.

I've shown you DS Glamour before, but I wanted to redo my rookie pictures of it. Sadly, there is no way to rightfully catch the unbelievable beauty of this polish. I even did a video, but failed miserably to catch the awesome holo effect. You just have to see it in person, and I hope you do have a bottle of this goodness!

*dreamy sigh* Two coats of this beauty, plus BC and TC. I hope it lasts, it's so beautiful. The application is so easy it's unbelievable.

What's your 'I feel like a million bucks wearing high heels' polish? :)

Thank you for reading!

Baubles up! mani

Heya darlings. It's beautiful autumn sunny day here in Ljubljana. Cold, but beautiful. Well it was anyway, it's already getting dark. I have another flakie layering today for you, again with Essie and Essence. I decided it's finally time that I crack open my Essence Glisten Up! bottle since Bobbing for Baubles seemed like a perfect base colour for it.
Glisten Up! is  an already discontinued Color&go beauty and before Waking up in Vegas basically the only flakie polish we could get here for really little money. Still, I never read much about it. What is more, when Essence discontinued some colours (which means they're selling them 50% off already cheap regular price), Glisten Up! always seemed to stay behind, I always got the chance to pick a bottle or two for swapping, even if I never searched for it actively. I have no idea why, it's a gorgeous flakie polish. Plus it's a baby sister of stunning Nfu Oh 52

So, pictures! Essie Bobbing for Baubles with Essence Glisten Up!

Why I call this a baby sister of Nfu Oh 52? As you can see the colour play of green and blue is pretty much the same in flakies, plus Glisten Up! also contains the green shimmer, like 52. The differences are that flakies in Glisten Up! are sparser (you can see I basically don't have them on my index finger) and smaller, thus you'd need more coats to achieve what you achieve with one of 52. Plus, it has a holographic glitter in the mix too and a different base colour (it's lighter). It's rare glitter, but I prefer it that way, it spices up a bit the whole thing. All in all a wonderful layering polish, don't you think? Oh, removing is really nice and easy too. I removed it few hours ago, didn't even need the foil technique.

I think this was a nice and cheap substitution for Nfu Oh 52. Ok, it's not as rich as Nfu Oh, and doesn't give so much depth, but considering the availability it had and the price difference, I dare say so. I got mine in a giveaway from Colorful Bottle (that i miss on blogsphere!) actually. If you're reading this, thank you, dear. :) I've already talked about Bobbing for Baubles, so no words on that beauty here. :)

Do you have Glisten Up!? Do you find it close to 52 too?

Thank you for reading!

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky

Hey everyone. How are you doing today? Did many of you got two extra days off like we did in Slovenia? I have no idea how the holiday systems work in other countires. We had our Reformation Day on 31st of October and today it's All Saints Day, so our regular week starts tomorrow. Sadly I have one of those days that start well and then slowly but surely turn into crap. Since early afternoon it's been a giant pile of guilt, sadness, tears (that come with compulsory migraine) and general bad feeling. Not one of my best days. Even changing nail polish didn't help. So I decided I'll show you something I really like and makes me feel good. I already told you about two projects I was working on last week - one was the Nail Polish Blogger Challenge and the second I show today. I quite successfully combined my two favourite hobbies - nail polish and fantasy world.

As I already mentioned before, I'm a member of our Tolkien society and as every year we had an art competition this weekend. I was officially one of the organizers this year so I didn't compete, but since winning really isn't the point here, I of course made something for the competition, also because I loved this year's theme so much (Magical objects of Arda). I decided I'll try the nail polish jewellery thing and create the Three Rings of Elves
***

If you don't find fantasy/Middle-Earth/Tolkien works/reading interesting you may want to skip this paragraph. I skipped way too much data for my liking, and yet it remains a long one.

A bit of history behind the Rings of Power. Even if you know Lord of the Rings only by movies, you already know Rings of Power exist. All of them are combined into the most famous verse/poem in Tolkien's world:

Three Rings for Elven Kings Under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf Lords in Their Halls of Stone,
Nine for Mortal Man Doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness Bind them,
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie

The Rings of Elves are named Narya, Nenya and Vilya. They were the only three their creator, Celebrimbor, made alone, without Sauron's help (all Rings of Power were made with the help of Sauron, that back then could shift his form and decieved the high Elves of Eregion so they didn't recognise him and let him teach them the art of Ringmaking), and their power was in understanding, preserving and healing - hence the magical "islands" of Rivendell and Lothlórien. Since Sauron never got them, they couldn't make the bearer invisible, but they could be used as a weapon against their foe even if that wasn't their purpose.

Narya ('nar' means 'fire' in Quenya, the Elvish language) is the Ring of Fire. That's the Ring Gandalf is wearing as the last bearer. It's power is to resent the tyranny over the bearer and his despair. It's ring stone is ruby.

Nenya ('nen' means 'water') is the ring of Water. Throughout the history of the Ring Galadriel was the sole bearer of Nenya, she used it for keeping Lothlórien timeless and safe. It was made out of mithril, the ring stone is white diamond.

Vilya (the word means "air, sky") is the most powerful ring of the Three Rings. The last bearer of Vilya is Elrond. He used it for keeping Rivendell safe, like Galadriel did with Lothlórien. It was made out of gold, the ring stone is Sapphire.

The Three Rings leave Middle-Earth with their ring bearers, together with Frodo as the One Ring bearer. With the destruction of One Ring the power of the Three faded and they returned to Valinor.

***

Naturally I didn't remake the Three Rings. I couldn't even if I wanted to. I wanted to try to create them from what I have, wanted to show how I see their colours through the magical world of nail polish. ;) Sorry for loads of pictures, I like how my box turned out. *blush* Plus, flakie rings always need at least two photos. Right? Right?

The letter in the middle is Tengwar "C" for Celebrimbor (although I should write "K", as Tengwar is a phonetic writing *sigh*).

GOSH Holographic for Nenya. White Diamond sounded a bit boring.

Brucci Sapphire + Nfu Oh 52 for Vilya. My favourite!

Nail System 97 with Nfu Oh 49 for Narya. Probably my next mani combo.

If you want actual swatches:

Let's put some music in here too. My favourite song about Tolkien world ever. It's not for everyone taste, mind you, but I'm sure some of you will like it, and I honestly believe that if you like music, you have to like the melody . You'd be surprised how much Tolkien lore is used for metal! Summoning - The Legend Of The Master Ring

Making nail polish rings is fun! What do you think, did I do a good job for a first timer? :) I feel so much better after writing this down, yay!

Do you like nail polish rings? How about Lord of The Rings and fantasy in general?

Thank you for reading!
