"What's been going on" randomness

Heya folks! So I haven't been blogging for a while again, which, as it seems will happen every once in a while. I am getting used to it, and I am not bothered by it anymore. I write when I have the time and that is it. I still wish I could write every (other) day though, I like blogging. But you can't have it all, and lately I have been very busy with some stuff that makes me happy, which is good as well. :)

My first "real" job is great and it is keeping me busy enough. It is a lot of work, but the pay is fair and on time. In the end of June I spent my first week on holidays and finally arranged with a good friend of mine to go to Paris. Now, for years I though Paris was a totally overrated city. I am not a romantic person and all everybody ever speaks of about Paris is what a romantic city it is. Luckily for me there is a lot more to Paris and I am forever in love with it. I spent one whole day at Louvre, one whole day at Versailles and their gardens with singing fountains. Plus Montmartre stole my heart. A week in Paris is not enough, I am definitively returning there.

Church of Sacre Coeur and the crowd infront of it.

I love these Metro stops, they look like something Tim Burton designed for one of his movies.

View of Grand canal and gardens of Versailles
I also went to Bourjois store in Paris. Yes they have a whole store there!! I loved it. I was a very good girl and I held back, I actually bought only three things - a bronzer for contouring, make up remover and tweezers to put false lashes on.

Tweezers are missing because I have no idea where they are at this point of the chaotic state of my stuff. See below.

Another thing that was a lovely surprise was a package of 6 Essie nail polishes Slovene L'Oreal sent to me. I remember in the beginning of my nail polish obsession I wasn't a fan of Essie nail polish, but in all these years the brand grew on me. I am currently wearing a combo of Watermelon and Cute as a button and I love it. Plus I was really surprised to see that Essie changed their brush when I wasn't looking!

On top of that we also started to renovate the house. It meant painting the walls, changing the rooms and buying new furniture. I thought it will be done in two weeks tops ... I was so wrong. It is taking now over a month, ATM my boyfriend is still finishing up two small closets we bought the last time and I still want some shelves done in my room as well. This has taken so much more of my time than I ever expected it, and I still haven't finished with moving all my things inside.

My very new and very big closet.

Another thing that is taking a whole lot of my free time is the one I love - dancing. I am a part of a project we have been working on for almost a year now and I cannot say much about it at this point but when I will be able to, I will post it on the blog immediately.

I can't wait to show you the new Essies and some other things i have planned. Until then, enjoy the Summer days, don't forget that pale is the new tan and wear lots of crazy colours on your nails!

Random Sunday post with space nails

Hey people. I read a lot of these random posts on my favourite blogs, and I always love them. And I feel like writing one, because why not. :) It has been a lovely weekend, that started on Thursday already, we went to Central Slovakia to a small city named Brezno. We watched a lot of movies (Incendies I must mention, I recommend it, it is brilliant and shocking), baked marshmallows on the fire in the fireplace, ate A LOT and had tons of fun. It was a slow weekend, we planned a lot of sightseeing of lots of castles, but thanks to weather and the fact that a lot of them were under renovation (my castle lemming, Čachtice, are closed until May 2014), we just kinda stayed put, went for long walks around Brezno and around the town (in the constant light rain, but nevertheless).

I changed my nail polish today after a couple of days, I chose an oldie but goodie, Eyeko Cosmic polish, black with holo glitter. Gorgeous polish.

Three coats plus TC. Middle photo for sparkle check.

During these last few days I read John Green's The Fault In Our Stars, and I still cannot stop thinking about it. This is such a perfection of a book. And I feel exactly like the quote from this very book:

"Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book." (John Green, The Fault In Our Stars)

This is how I feel, I can't stop talking about this book, I already told most of my friends about it and talked endlessly about it to my poor mother ... seriously, just read it. I cried my effing eyes out in the end, but laughed out loud often during the reading. My BF found me crying when finishing the book, and was shocked, asking why the hell am I crying, and I told him it is about the book and he looked at me puzzled, saying: "But haven't you been laughing all the time while reading it earlier?" Yes. That's The Fault in Our Stars. And I love it, John Green is already first on my "read everything they wrote" list.

And to finish the randomness, the song of this Sunday. I have it on repeat since we drove back to Blava. Amorphis - Drowned Maid

How is your Autumn going so far?

Have a great week!

Answers to random questions (a tag)

As I sit in front of the computer at around 4 o'clock in the morning, not one bit sleepy, I tend to do not such productive things. Like eating. Or thinking about worst case scenarios about everything. Or reading 9gag. Or watching series that should have ended about 3 seasons ago, when they were still beyond awesome. Yeah. Not very productive. And yet not sleepy! I have become a frakking owl again. Which isn't so bad, to tell you the truth, since my study period will begin a week ago soon, but I tend to ignore that for a while every year, just so the shit hits the fan and I have to study my eyeballs out. :)

Anyway, to today's point ... Nail crazy is a wonderful blog, owned by one of the kindest bloggers that always makes me smile with her comments. Her nail polish creations are wonderful and I actually have many manicures made by her in my 'to recreate' folder. If there is any chance you do not know Žana's blog yet, RUN! Shhh, no talk, just click: Nail crazy! You shan't regret it, I promise. In one of her latest posts, she did a tag that I thought is quite fun: The Beauty Blogger Tag Questionnaire and I decided I will answer it, in the productive phase of 4-5 a.m.. :)

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
It is naturally more curly than not, but it got nicely curly when my hair reached the middle of my back, before it was very Hermione-ish (and that sounds much cooler than it was).

2. What is your natural hair colour?
Medium brown, not a huge fan of it.

3. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?

I stopped dying my hair a couple of years ago, I grew sick of it after 5 years of constantly changing my hair colour. I went from red to purple to black, back to bright red ... I still get the urge to colour my hair, but the chosen colour is a very strong red and you can't get rid of red pigment until you cut it off so I do not do it.

4. Do you wear the same style every day or do you change it?
My style is pretty consistent, yes.

5. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I do it myself, I go a bit Sheldon when it comes to salons regarding hygiene standards and I do not trust them with my nails.

6. How often do you change your nail polish?
Lately once a week, unless I get sick of the colour. I went almost entire March without polish, I was so busy. But the phase of changing it every day has passed, I usually change it now every 4 days or so.

7. Do you polish your toes in winter or just in the summer?
Just in the summer, although I always want to have them painted during winter. But as much as I love to polish my finger nails, I *hate* to polish my toes.

8. How long does it take for you to put on your make-up?
Depends on what type of make-up it is. From 5 minutes to 30 minutes.

9. What do you do first, face or eyes?
Eyes, I usually put colourful eyeshadow on, and I want to check for  fall-out on my cheeks before I put foundation on.

10. Do you collect make-up or just buy what you need when you need it?
Hm ... I do not buy only what I need, but I try to keep it a range where everything is still used on relatively regular basis. In make up I succeeded to reach that standard (with a sale or two), but nail polish is all over the place. ;)

11. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
Only for dance productions and photo shootings (if the latter will occur again anytime in the future). Which essentially means once a year.

12. Do you do a full face of make-up every day?
Not every day. Whenever I feel like doing it and if I have the time. I really like doing it, it is fun.

13. Do you wear make-up when you are home alone or with family?
No, not really. Unless I feel like playing with the colours and trying out new combinations.

14. Will you leave the house without make-up?
If I need to for the lack of time, or if I am too tired to put it on, of course. I do not dread walking around without make up, I just prefer not to. :)

15. How many high-end products do you have?
Define the border of high end for me. :) I have a Dior and Yves Saint Laurent lipstick, I got both as a gift. The rest is middle range, if I remember my definitions correctly (MAC, ArtDeco ...).

16. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?
I decide when I am getting dressed. I can change my mind a couple of times too. Very time consuming sometimes.

17. How often do you change your handbag?

I seriously lack good handbags. I have only one, so I do not change it at all. I want to get at least two more, but I always demand too much stuff from one bag. Large, but not too large, roomy, but not an abyss, black, but not boring and yet with no blingy accessories, ... see?

18. What time do you get up and go to sleep?
Oh man ... I usually go to sleep between 3 and 4 a.m, if I'm not doing some sort of movie marathon. I get up around noon.

19. Do you work out? How often?
Yes, although due to the competition I've just ended with, my work out schedule has suffered significantly. Now I am getting back on track. Once a week dance lesson and 2-3 times a week work out at home or outside.

20. Left-handed or right-handed?
Right-handed.

21. How tall are you?
170 cm.

22. Do you speak a foreign language?

Well, I can say I speak rather good English and German, kind of good Croatian (or Bosnian rather, I have forgotten a lot, but I can easily communicate with our southern Slavic brethren :)),  and I understand Spanish. I do not have the confidence to actually speak it without a disclaimer to the other Spanish speaking person that I do really suck at Spanish, since I've forgotten a lot and did not know much to begin with. The last time I've spoken to a Mexican person, he spoke in Spanish and I answered in English, it was fun. :)

23. How many pets do you have?
Alas, none. I would love to have one, but my father does not allow animals in the house. I would love to have a dog, or a cat. Or a rabbit. Or a hedgehog! Huge fan of those little creatures. :) Or a cool bird, love them too.

24. How often are you on Blogger?
Depends on how busy I am. From 5 times a week to five times a month.

25. Do you read comments on blogs?
Yes, I do, on my blog, of course, but also on others, if there are not too many.

26. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
Not in the sense of wish list, I gave up on them long time ago. But if there is a certain product that really catches my eye I remember it and try to find it in our stores (or when I'm abroad).

27. How did you come up with your blog name?
No idea. I remember struggling with the name, nothing came to mind and I wished to avoid all the typical names for nail polish blog back then. And then I thought of a nail polish junkie, sitting in a cafe, hearing someone at the next table mentioning a nail polish, but not understanding what it was about, getting up, the entire cafe goes silent and she says, with the look of a complete focus on her face: Did someone just say nail polish?
I do wish I would have chosen a shorter name, sometimes.

28. What kind of camera do you use for photographs?
In short, a shitty one. A Practica 750Z. I hate it with great passion ATM, the cover for the batteries keeps opening up when I try to take photos, making the camera instantly drop dead, not saving the last picture. But also in general, it is not really a camera to brag with.

29. How often do you clean your house?

When I deem it necessary.

30. What is your favourite colour?

Green. With black still being the strongest colour  in my closet.

31. Do you swear?
Yes, some people think quite a lot, but I disagree. You have not hear my mother during a football match. That is a lot of swearing, I am a fluffy bunny.

32. What are you doing with the rest of your day?

Well, I'll try and catch a few hours of sleep. Then the store (Saturday is our food shopping day), then some work out and then hopefully I get to see my BF after almost a week of his illness.

If you actually read this, you are tagged! Write it in the comments if you don't feel like doing a blog post!

Thank you for reading!

Well, I'm back.

Heya people! How have you been? It's been a while. I have returned just before holidays and did absolutely nothing for three days. Well, except eat and watch Star Wars movies. Very productive. ;) Alas my nails did not held up very well to me being three to four weeks extremely busy and had absolutely no time for them. I walked around with bare nails for the first time in three years. I have visited Hong Kong, Asia in fact, for the first time and it has been an amazing experience. Hong Kong is so incredibly different from Europe, it was so interesting. Oh, and the food - fantastic. We ate like kings. And the food is really cheap comparing to Europe as well, which is great, IMO. Put the price high on things people do not need to exist, but leave food and water available to everyone. *thumbs up* Then we left for windy Vienna, and I got a nasty cold there. The wind cut like razor blade, I was so surprised. Plus, coming from the spring-y HK into still January-ish Europe ... do not like, my dear people, do not like. Anyway. The competition has been an amazing experience and I don't regret anything, not a single hour of hard work put into it. Plus, I had my birthday in Hong Kong, how awesome is that? :D

So now I'm back! I have been completely cut off from the colourful world of make up, and I heard GFC is going away with 1st july. That sucks, since I'm using GFC to read your blogs and everything ... oh well. I'll get used to bloglovin' at last. BTW, on the right side of the blog you can find the button to follow me on bloglovin' as well. :)

I'm already wearing a review mani ATM that I will show you in the next few days. I have pampered my nails like they are little divas, and I feel comfortable about taking photos of them again. Until then, a beautiful mani from February. Ludurana Admiravel, a green multichrome. It is a weaker multichrome comparing to other Luduranas, but such a stunning polish nevertheless. Two coats over Bobbing for Baubles by Essie.

Anything new worth mentioning happened in the polish world  last month? Do share! :)

My top 20 of 2012

Hello dear people! I'm really late with my top 20 of 2012, but you know time is never on my side. :) This is the polish I used and showed on the blog in year 2012, no matter when it came out, 2012 is the year I discovered it. There is no particular order to it, these are simply the colours that I loved most in the past year. Maybe you will remember having them in your stash and wear them again soon. :)

I am not surprised that the main colours in my nail polish year were green and blue. Green is the colour that just does not let me go (or better said, I don't let her go), I love it oh so much. Although I'm not as 'fanatical' for blue as I am for green, it's the silent water in my stash. I wear it often, have tons of blue shades ... but still, I think of myself as total green fanatic, not really blue. Dunno why though.

I remember I said to myself last year that I shall do more nail art in 2012. Although I still don't do it as often as I want to, the work in that direction has definitively been done - I started stamping, I'm doing stripe tapes manicures more often ... I'm glad I kept at least a little bit of that NY's resolution.
Generally in 2012 my heavy obsession with nail polish somewhat cooled off to a rather 'normal' level, if you will. I became picky and I returned to my stash for colours I love, instead of constantly searching for new shades.
I still have a couple of unfulfilled wishes in nail polish department, though. BB Couture greens are on my WL from day one and 80% of them are still not in my possession. There is still that white holo I wish for. And A England has a long list of polish I desire.

My most worn brand in year 2012 was certainly Zoya, second place takes China Glaze. I adore their formula and brush and their colours, of course. Zoya is the brand that is making colours I often wear for the second, third, fourth etc. time, which is not often with my stash in general.
The strongest collectionthis year, IMHO, was China Glaze Capitol Colors. That was an amazing collection, very, very nice, I think I've gotten most colours from one collection there. Second place takes Zoya's Surf Collection, I only skipped on the pink one, the rest of colours in the collection is a perfection.

I have also gotten the entire Nubar Going Green collection, thanks to my awesome swap buddy Kris, that was one of my biggest wishes ever in nail polish. And I've gotten Ludurana multichromes and Hits holos that I never imagined I would have, thanks to wonderful Eveline. Not to mention the wonderful surprises from other nail polish fanatics and friends, you know who you are, I thank you for your kindness.  :*

Last, but certainly not least, I wish to thank you, dear reader, for making my days better with your comments and ideas. This blog is still a wonderful experience and reason why I met so many truly amazing persons, and for that I'm still sticking to it. Thank you all for sticking with me as well! :)

Majolica Majorca polish and a little bit of Japan

Heya folks! How are you doing? I'm freezing my ass off, thank you for asking. It is not normal, how cold our house is. And I am a meter and a half away from the radiator, wearing two pair of socks and a thick sweater. Unbelievable! But you're not here for the weather complaint, are you? Let me just get a nice cup of tea and I'll show you what my friend surprised me with when she came back to us all the way from the distant Japan.
*
Aaah, much better. :) So! A very good friend of mine went to Japan for a year and this weekend we went for a welcome back drink and trust me, it was more than enough for me to see her again. When she pulled out the little gift bags, I naturally got curious and since she knows me very well, she brought me nail polish. Since I have no clue about Japanese nail polish, I was glad that the incredibly cute bottle came with a sticker. The only thing in Latin and not Kanji was the page link though, hehe. There I found out nail polish is from a Shiseido branch called Majolica Majorca. They have a pretty neat web page, consistent with their collection for this year, Circus Ecstasy. The whole brand gives me a burlesque feeling, but it could be only for this particular collection. I really like the accessories and eyeshadow on the model, look:

glossedintranslation.com

It's fun, discovering new make up brands! But there was more in my gift bag:

Two pair of sticks with a divinity drawn on them. They are beautiful and now I finally have an excuse to really learn how to eat with them properly. I start with the sticks but by the time I'm at my third sushi, I give up and start eating with my hand. Very classy.
The 5 jen coin is meant for luck, they are also given in their temples.
The LP  pendant is from  Loud Park, Japanese biggest metal festival (and possibly the biggest metal festival in Asia, not sure). My friend went there and said it was absolutely fantastic, the energy is supposed to be incredible on the festival. I love the font and pattern around the letters, it's a cool logo. Plus I saw their T-shirts and they are awesome!

But you're here for the polish, yes? This is my little green gem of Majolica Majorca, artistically called GR615.

The last photo shows rather poorly the cool addition to the cap, this is how detailed it actually is:
majolica.com.tw

And this is how it looks like on the nails.

It's a lovely shade of forest green that I adore in general, plus it contains this lovely colourful shimmer, that is visible in every light, I'm happy to say. The brush is fantastic, very easy to work with. It is also two coater, I applied three just because of swatching. A very nice polish indeed, I like it a lot. Even with its small bottle and cap it is no trouble applying it, so it is a nice go-to polish. Thank you, dear, for the lovely gift!

Do you have any experience with Japanese cosmetics?

Catrice ~ Welcome to the Jungle

And now I can't get Guns N' Roses out of my head, naturally. You know what, I'm going to look up the song on youtube, it's decent that I play it in the background with this polish. The original video too, when Axl was still the high-cheekboned perfection.
Anyway ... a random question. Do you ever feel like drinking coffee in the middle of the night? I do, all the time. The latest I drunk it was 4 a.m.. I'm a big coffee fan, although I love tea too. And I don't think it has any affect on me. Well, when I drank 6-7 cups per day for a long period of time my stomach started to hurt, that's why I cut the dose. Sad face.
Oh, I'm not a morning person either.

End of randomness! Catrice Welcome to the jungle! What a gorgeous, gorgeous polish! I can't believe it took me so long to wear it, sheesh, it's amazing! It's a part of Catrice Papagena LE, but i think I'm a star from regular assortment is a decent dupe.

Excellent formula, the application was great, very easy and the colour is simply amazing. Two coats on the pictures. Not a bad thing about this baby. Love it.

What's your favourite Catrice nail polish?

Thank you for reading!
