NOTD: OPI Take The Stage and Zoya Myrta

Heya guys! Today I have for you a quick NOTD I am wearing right now. I already showed you I got O.P.I. Take the stage mini and it was about time I wore it as well. I wanted to do a simply accent mani, as I seriously lacked time to do something more innovative. I thought Zoya Myrta might be a cool bright accent, only to realise when putting it on, it is way to close to Take the Stage. Oh well. :)

I really like the sparkly Take the Stage. It is a part of O.P.I. Burlesque Collection for Winter 2010 (omg, really, I feel like it was released two years ago!!) and I remember everyone went mental for the collection and I didn't get why. Take the Stage is actually a gorgeous copper foil, I love it, so I am glad I got it. I takes 3 coats to be opaque on my really short nails, I imagine I would need to work for it to be opaque on longer nails.

Zoya Myrta is a part of Zoya Surf Collection for Summer 2012, full of bright foils and definitively one of my favourite collections out there. I adore Myrta as well, such a rich orange. Two coats and you are done.

Yeah. The combo seems a bit pointless, but I love both nail polishes, so it is all good. :)

NOTD of three colours

Heya everyone! How are you doing? It is hot here, a proper summer. I'm not the one for the hot weather, but I guess most people love it. The coffee shop where I'm right now has an amazing ice cream, pure fruit, water based ice cream, it is just heavenly. :)

Today I'm back with a NOTD. I do not normally post them, but I played with different colours yesterday and I loved the way this turned out.

And one without the lace, so you can see the colour more properly.

So yeah, I picked three colours I thought might look good together. Zoya Zuza is on most of my nails, on my middle fingernail Deborah Milano Pret-a-porter Stardust and on my index finger a The New Black mint shade I got at the blog event a week or so ago. On the mint shade I put the Born Pretty Store water decal (I showed them already in a few manis, here's the first post) and then mattefied it with Essence matte top coat. It is getting quite lumpy, sadness! Anyway. I love how it turned out! :) It's on my nails now, hopefully it lasts. :)

Green foil flakes mani (a review)

Heya folks! How are you doing? I got some pretty awesome news yesterday in my inbox, which is pretty awesome for you too, and that can only mean a giveawaaaaay! Yeah! We just need to iron some details out and then it shall begin. I am really excited, I haven't done a giveaway in such a long time!

I also want to thank you for all the advices on the stamper in my previous post, they were tons helpful, the stamper works now!! Thanks, girls! :)

For today I have another lovely nail art toy for ya. Again Born Pretty Store gave me a choice in what to order for review and I wanted to try out this foil thing-y, it looked quite fun. Like flake polish, but without the polish and with bigger flakes. Awesome! You can find it on Born Pretty Store site under the name Fantasy Starry Holo Nail Foils Glitter Transfer Stickers Nail Decoration (item ID # 12413), I picked the pattern number #75. And I fell in love with the effect, the mani looked great ... if only it would last a bit longer!

I used RGB Sea as the base, a gorgeous dark green with green shimmer, it seemed perfect for the bright holo green foil.

The foil itself comes in a need square package and it looked like a decent amount of foil for under a dollar, but then I saw it unfolds in to a much bigger sheet! Awesome!

Now, for the pros and cons:

+ the foil is incredbily easy to work with, you have a tutorial on Born Pretty Store page that works very nicely, it is the nail art for dummies, really (which means it is perfect for me ;))
+ you use a very small amount of foil per mani, as a little corner can be used for an entire hand. For my nails I used approx. 2 cm x 2cm of the foil and I could still use it for a couple nails more, would I have them. :)
+ the effect is gorgeous, especially because it is so random, I love it! You cannot control where the foil will stick, which makes it a very asymmetrical mani
+ the removal is very easy, the foil does not bother the removal at all

- TC will dull the holo effect of the foil. Yes, it will still look nice and bright and metallic, but holo effect will be gone. Still, it is better to use TC because the alternative is:
- the foil without the TC does not last long at all. Meaning, I washed my hands, dried them with a towel and the towel pulled off the foil. I was quite disappointed with that. If you have any tricks, how to avoid that without dulling the holo effect, let me know, please!

All in all I love the effect, but I hate how it gets damaged so quickly! I will use it again, but with TC, so it will last as a normal manicure should.

If you are planning to buy at Born Pretty Store, don't forget to use my code SSL91 that gives you a 10% discount on your purchase! :)

Do you have any tricks up your sleeve for this foil method?

Rimmel Pro ~ Rags to Riches (with Angry Birds)

Whoa, this is my 500th post! And of course it has to be a green nail polish. :) Quite by accident, but still it makes sense. It is snowing here in Bratislava, it looks nice, first snow that actually stuck to the ground and whitened the country this Winter. I like it. I'm heading out soon, hope I don't freeze to death. :D I think the old part of town will look quite amazing covered in snow.

This Rimmel is my flatmate's. It looked like a nice foil green so I had to try it. I put Angry birds on just for fun. I think the big pink/red Angry bird is just being a bad type of sticker, because it again peeled the first, the others stayed on very nicely (same happened with my first Angry Birds mani here).

This was two coats. I have never seen Rimmel in bottles like this, I guess they are sold in them in the USA, in Europe I've seen only two round type of bottles. Plus it looks like a line, Rimmel Lasting Finish PRO, up to 10 days. It is a nice green colour. Nothing to roll on the ground from excitement about but still, a neat colour.

What is on your nails today?

Zoya ~ Carly

Hello everyone! How are you? Still too full to think? I'm actually so full of sweets, I do not wish to eat it anymore, that almost never happens to me. Sugar addict, I'm afraid. I've started year 2013, if I don't count my NY's mani, with an awesome Zoya purple named Carly. She is a part of Zoya Summer Collection Surf of 2012 , an insanely glowy warm purple. Naturally it's the purple my camera has difficulties picking up the right shade of, bit I think I did rather well. :) It is a great, great purple, vivid but still feels kinda like the classy sister in the Surf collection.

You see a lot of different lights, I wanted to capture the true shade of Carly. This is two coats, but Carly is basically a one coater, I did two just because of macro shots. Excellent formula too, I don't think I did any clean up at all. Great one, Zoya!

Did you get any colours from Surf collection?

Bunny is connecting the snow dots

Heya folks! I'm trying quite desperately to find stuff to do in order to avoid college work. I've done a make up look with MUA (btw, love the eyeshadows and the powder blusher, it suits me perfectly), I went for a coffee with a friend, I went for a walk, cooked lunch, made tea, edited photos ...I just might do a bit of exercise and dancing after I finish with this post. You know ... to get the blood flowing and they I'll really go to work! Yeah ... actually, I really do need to work, so I better stop making excuses. But I miss dancing, I just might give it half an hour. And now I'm seriously rambling, aren't I?

Revlon Snow Bunny is a perfect polish for snowy winter. It matches the snow rather well. It's a beautiful white foil, I think I fell in love with white foil when I saw it on Das Experiment blog. Then again, everything looks perfect on her gorgeous nails. :) Snow Bunny is a bit sheer, I needed 4 coats for full opacity, but I really love the finished look. I put Lynnderella's Connect the Dots on top, and they look pretty awesome together.

This is actually how white Snow Bunny is! A bit shaky picture, but it's the best I could get to actually capture the whiteness.

When I started applying Connect the Dots I grabbed the biggest hexagonal ever! See it on my pinky? I did not know hexs that size are even in the polish. It is crazy big. :D I love Connect the Dots, really, it's such a perfect layering polish, it saves just about every possible colour I put it on so far. Revlon Snow Bunny is a very awesome shade as well. Plus it's very easy to work with, if you have the patience to apply 4 coats for full opacity. I do, so it's not really a problem, the brush and the formula are very nice.

Do you like white foils? Which one is your favourite?

Btw, this is probably the song of 2012 for me, I've been listening to it whole day long, might as well put it on the blog. I cannot get sick of it.When I first heard it I actually got that feeling, you know, when you hear a song and it's like a whole new world of music just opened for you and you know this song is going to be like a drug for you, just constantly listening to it, and enjoying every second of it? That is how my love for Agalloch was born, yes.

Zoya ~ Crystal a.k.a. Ice Queen nails!

Hello everyone! I just finished the biggest sandwich I saw in my life and am too full for work, so why not show you my NOTD. I've been wearing Brazilian polish until today and I absolutely love it, can't wait to show them all to you! But today Zoya Crystal looked too beautiful to pass. I wore almost every Zoya from my Zoya package I got few weeks ago and ... I don't know, if someone told me I have to buy only three brands of nail polish from now until the rest of my life, Zoya would be one of them. They make the best polish colour and formula.

Crystal is a gorgeous polish. I'm sure you all remember the hype this baby created. Ok, maybe not hype ... a buzz of love all around blogsphere. Everyone seemed to like it. Not me though. Crystal was one of those shades that didn't look at all intriguing to me from the swatches. I get that every now and then. It was like that with Paradoxal and now with Peridot and others. Since I love the Paradoxal dupe I have, and I love Crystal, maybe I should get one of peri-dupes too, hehe. But anyway. Crystal didn't make it on my WL right away, it took me months until I decided to give it a go. Luckily, Kris sent it to me in our last package and I honestly don't know what was I thinking, not liking this colour. I can't stop staring at my nails, seriously. It is insanely gorgeous. It has this really icy feeling to it. I think Ice Queen would wear this for certain if she was cool and payed attention to her nails as well! I get Winter Wonderland association looking at it. Clear blue sky, pure white blanket of snow, naked trees with snow on their branches and warm, woolly clothes as you walk in the silence of winter forest. Ah.

Lucky for me, Crystal is also very photogenic polish. Lately I have been having so much trouble with trying to capture the right shade of varnish, I was starting to think either my camera broke or I forgot how to take good pictures of nails. Crystal is a part of Zoya Fire and Ice Collection for Winter 2010. I also have Valerie from that collection, just as stunning as Crysta. Although light blue foil with golden foil specks wins in my book. Three easy coats, the formula is amazing. No complaints. Thank you, Zoya!

Do you have Crystal? What colour gets all hyped but you don't care for it at all?

Black&white challenge inspired mani

Heya darlings! How are you doing? I'm just about to work with colour and eggs, yes, we're late again, as every year. :) Still, it's a fun tradition we have at home. Hope you're having nice holidays, if you celebrate them!

You probably noticed (or not), that I'm trying at least once a month to do a mani I saw on blogs and loved it. To push my nail art trying a bit on the move. This time I was inspired by many manicures, all hidden in the Black and White Challenge some girls did. I was kindly invited to the challenge too, but had to say no, as my lack of time isn't getting any better. These girls really showed me black and white can work as a combination. In general I dislike it, it's one of my least favourite combinations with black. But this time, after seeing some really amazing work at Nail Crazy, My Little Vanities, Taya and Nail Buff, to name a few, I said, hey, let's try this.

I had a Hema Metallic in my untrieds, I've already shown you the blue and the green one, and this one was standing there for way too  long. As I did stripes with the other two, I did stripes with black one too.

Hema Metallic black (it doesn't have a name, just a bunch of numbers) is more of a silverish foil, as it turns out, but I liked it still, I love foil finish. :) I did scotch tape stripes with H&M White and that was it. Two easy coats of each. Still ... black&white isn't really up my alley so I removed this the next day. I like the pattern, so I must try something similar with black&red ... or green. Or blue. Or orange ... yeah, you get it. :)

What do you think? Do you like themed challenges?

Thank you for reading & have a lovely Sunday!

Deborah Milano Pret A Porter gorgeousness in It's Evergreen and Stardust

Good evening everyone! How are you doing? I'm tired as hell, but really feel like posting. These are long effing days for me, people. Loads of work, loads of stress, add a few douchebags into the mix and you can get the general situation. Maybe that's why I want to post this, blog is always such a nice stress relief. Plus, I really really really wanted to show you It's Evergreen since the moment I wore it. ATM it's not on my nails anymore, but it's one of the biggest crushes I had lately from my untrieds end of the table. It's been sitting there for months, since we've gotten Pret A Porter in Ljubljana. Lame, I know. I noticed then in my Deborah Milano folder the gorgeous Stardust is still waiting to be published, so I'm posting them together.

First Deborah Milano Pret A Porter It's Evergreen. *dreamy sigh* Isn't this utterly gorgeous? Such a perfection of a green. Bright green, with golden shimmer. I love it so much. Also, the formula is fantastic, the brush is great and it needs only two coats for full opacity. This baby was a really nice surprise.

And Deborah Milano Pret A Porter Stardust. You probably noticed already that I have a thing for foil finish. I just love it. And this baby called for me right from the bin where it was hiding. I love how Ice Queen this feels. Something the evil Queen of Narnia would wear. And it's also so insanely bright. It needs three coats for full opacity, the formula is again wonderful, so is the brush. I love their brush, it's a bit wider.

So yeah. Two great discoveries from Deborah Milano Pret A Porter series. We were told it's a LE when they came to our stores but I quickly realised it's not an essence type of LE, the shelves/bins were actually refilled and we can still find a lot of shades in Ljubljana. And I always love to find really awesome colours in my local drugstore. These two and Celestial Sky are really a must.

Which shades form Pret A Porter do you have and like?

Bell Spark 1 and 2

Heya people! How are you doing? I have some more Polish polish for you today! I got the two Bells from the swap me and Sabbatha of Spooky nails did a while ago. I've said it before, I'm gonna say it again - I'm really impressed with varnish Poland has. Awesome colours for more than a decent price.

Bell Sparks were limited edition so I was really happy Sabbatha was able to find me the bottles. Pictures!

Bell Spark 1 is an amazing sparkly teal. So gorgeous! Plus the application on Bell is fantastic, the formula and the brush are really great. Three coats on my long nails back then. Totally worth it. <3

I'm sorry to say I did no favour to Bell Spark 2 with my pictures. I couldn't capture the gorgeous shimmer it contains to save my life. Sucks. Here's post Sabbatha did on it, you can see it there clearly. It's a lovely shade of purple. I wasn't so impressed by it as I was with Spark 1, but I'm on a huge teal&green kick, so I'm guessing that's the reason. Two coats on my very short nails, again a great formula.

All in all I can only recommend Bell, judging from these two. Thanks, Sabbatha, for getting them for me!

Did you ever tried Bell polish, do you like them?

Nail polish blogger Challenge day 3

Heya darlings! Another day, another combination for the challenge! This one is kinda special. Because it's my first real attempt at stamping. I got the chance thanks to Born Pretty Store who kindly sent me a Bundle monster plate for a review that i have yet to post, but I will, I promise! I actually love how this turned out.
I'll try to do an accent mani in these posts too, so my ring finger will tend to be a bit different from the rest. Here is the same. I used Color Club Hot Like Lava for stamping on most of my finger and Color Club Cold Metal on my accent finger. Then I mattefied the whole thing with Essence Matt Top Coat and I love how it looks. Pictures!

See how the pattern still shines due to the foil finish of Color Clubs? Love it!

And how it looked before getting mattefied ...

As you can see, I have miles to go before I get the stamping thing. My lines were not perfect at all and it bothered me quite a bit, but then it sort of grew on me with the imperfections and all. Sure, some just might call it sloppy work. We live and learn.

What do you think about this one?
