New In ~ A Haul Post

Hey everyone! Time for a new haul post, yay! This month I got a few things I've been wanting to get for quite a while. My first real paycheck and all that. ;) I got a few more packages, but I shan't show them on the blog, they are not beauty related, BUT they are for my costume for the sci-fi&fantasy convention in September and I cannot wait for it! :) I will probably do a separate post when I get all the "ingredients" if you'll be interested. :)

Let's see my lemmings!

A group photo!

Issey Miyake Pleats Please has been on my WL for quite a while. I have like a top 10 of perfumes that I adore, Pleats Please is always in the top 3, so when I saw the sale in our Müller, I decided to get it. I was supposed to get a document case with it, instead I got a cosmetic bag. Admittedly it is by far more useful to me, but it is also perfectly ugly to my eye. Still, I love the perfume and it's bottle. :)

At last, a face primer! I've been searching for this baby for a billion years and when I saw this post on gorgeous Mateja's blog I decided to get it immediately. Max Factor Face Finity All Day Primer with SPF 20. I won't write much about it, Mateja covered everything perfectly. I wore it contantly in the last week  and it really prolongs the wear of my foundation, which is perfect. :)

Art Deco Dita Von Teese palette with blusher and three eyeshadows. Boy oh boy, I wanted this so badly. When Dita did the collaboration with Art Deco I almost died, I wanted to have everything she put out with her name. I love Art Deco quality and I knew she wouldn't let some crap make up carry her name. Everything looked classy and the colours were gorgeous and the whole concept just brilliant. I got a lipstick back then and a few eyeshadows and I adore them all. But palette was just to expensive for me at that point and then of course it got discontinued rather fast. Lucky for me a girl at mojbutik.si started selling this palette a while ago and it was meant to be because it waited for me to get enough money and excuses to buy it. ;)

As you can see, blusher did not survived the shipping completely. I blame that on our stupid postman. The package was rather thick and no one in their right mind would try to shove it in our small mailbox. Except our postman. And he really needed to work for it, I'd wager. When I saw the package, I was sure nothing survived, but clearly AD has some sturdy products.
The eyeshadows are actually gorgeous, especially the dusty purple matte one, so I am thinking I will keep them, at least for a while, I did a combo with them only and I love it for a very soft everyday look.
Of course the palette is already full, I added my Dita Von Teese purple eyeshadow (Mystique) and the ultimate black matte eyeshadow I adore.

Oh, and the price for three AD eyeshadows, a blusher and a limited edition palette? 13 eur. Epic bargain. Aaand I also got a gift with my purchase:

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse dry oil. My first! Late to the party much? I know. Everybody loves this little potion and I can't wait to try it on my hair. I cannot use it on my skin, it is too oily, but my Mom definitively will, I think she will love it. The smell in unbelievable, I adore it already.

And again something for the hair. I bought the yellow balls on a whim, it is suppose to make your hair curly without a heater. I bought them at Born Pretty Store, they are called Yellow Lovely Soft Sponge DIY Lady Hair Curler Roller Ball. I tried them once but I disliked how they tugged on my hair when I tried to remove them, I felt them snap, because they get stuck in the sponge. And the final effect isn't really good. Maybe there is a learning curve, I gave up after that one try.

The second tool for hair I love. Topsy Tail Hair Braid Ponytail DIY Maker Styling Tool. I only use the bigger one, it helps to do a bit different ponytail and I really like it, it is easy to use and there is million tutorials online for it. There are pictures on the paper board as well, but the description is in Chinese so it is useless for me, as the pictures are of bad quality. Nevertheless, it is a nice product.

And finally, my last lemming for this post: Tangle Teezer Compact Styler! As I decided I will put more into my care for my hair, I needed a good brush as well. The comb I used was really crappy and it created static on my hair, as if they weren't frizzy enough. Tangle Teezer is awesome! I bought compact one because I move from one city to another often, and it is awesome. Small, but not too small, and the cover is just a brilliant addition.

See, tiny!

Lots of lemmings killed. :) And what did you get this month?

Royal & sea & turquoise blue trio

Heya everyone! How about new NOTD? Nail crazy said I should show my NOTDs more often and lately I actually feel like wearing more than one colour I've already shown, so with posting these I don't fear I am not boring you with my nails. :)

I think I am in my blue phase quite strongly lately. I constantly feel like wearing some sort of blue shade. For this I mixed up two colours and a glitter. I actually wanted to fling a duochrome topper in there as well, but I thought it would get too busy. Please excuse the state of my cuticles, I wasn't home when I took these and there is no dishwasher in my BF's cabin up north and that shows. :)

I combined them a bit differently on my right hand and I prefer this combination to the one on my left hand, hence the picture. Excuse the weird position of the hand, I am not used to taking photos with my left. :)

The royal blue is Revlon Royal, I think it has to be one of my most used nail polish, the colour is just sickening. It is a jelly and so it photographs a bit sheer even if it is not.
The turquoise blue is Kiko 342 and it is in fact a true turquoise, not sky blue, like it is on my photos. Online swatches prove also it is a very nice dupe of O.P.I. Fly, if you really want a cheap but great substitute of that baby.
On top is the utterly gorgeous Sea Blue glitter made by Esmaltes da Kelly (EDK) I got from lovely Eveline all the way from Brasil. I love how irregular the glitter is, and that it is dense enough I only need one coat to spread it evenly over the nail. Brush is awesome, a lot of brands could learn from this indie np maker. :)

And of course  I needed to put a matte TC on the Kiko combo. Apparently that's what I do with lately with at least 2 nails, my brain decided it is obligatory.

What's on your nails today?

Makeup Revolution Lock & Load palette review and looks

Hello darlings! How are you doing? Today I have a long overdue review for you. In the latest package I received from licila.si, I got also a pocket-sized palette called Lock&Load. Colours looked absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't wait to try them ASAP. This post is going to be a bit picture heavy, since I made three looks for the review only and I tried to make decent swatches and all in all - it's good to have pictures of the eyeshadows in reviews, right? It is quite a lenghty post as well, I tried to break it into subchapters with titles, hope that helps.

The post will be in English, however, there is going to be a short summary in Slovene in the end. I would love to do the complete translation as I did the first time, but I seriously lack time, so I am shamelessly stealing the elegant idea of a summary from a lovely Slovene blogger Petra from Adjusting Beauty, I do hope she wouldn't mind. :)

The package, as shown previously.

About the packaging
The palette is quite small - if you don't count the sharp edges of it, it's the same size as my cell phone, comparing to Sleek and MUA palettes it is cca. 1 centimetre shorter and about 0,5 cm narrower and thinner. The pans are a bit small, with a wider brush you need to be a bit careful when grabbing the eyeshadow. It opens on a button and it opens and closes well, I first thought I'll need tweezers to open it, as I do with most of my palettes, but I do not, and my nails are safe! Extra points for that!

The eyeshadows do not have any names, alas, I like it when they do. There is a rich choice of 14 shades and two eyebrow colours in it. I like the choice of colours they put in, there isn't too many neutral ones, but enough that you can use it for everyday look as well, but there are some really awesome bolder, colourful ones in there. Honestly, when I saw the set, my head almost exploded from all the possibilities and combinations.

The looks
I did three looks for this review only, otherwise I use the eyeshadows quite regularly. First look I did with the copper eyeshadow, which is IMO a total winner of this palette, it is a total stunner. Naturally I need to try the blue one as well (love the copper&blue combination) and then I used the blue-purple one for a pop of colour.

I loved this look, the colours are stunning. I also used the dark eyebrow colour on my eyebrows and I liked the effect.

The second look I did with the greens and the darker browns.

Excuse the bluish  tinge on the middle photo, I do not know what happened. Ah, but I do love green eyeshadow. :) I used the Essence black eyeliner here as well. Both greens were used and both shimmery browns above the dark green.

The last is a neutral one, with all brown eyeshadows. It is also a look that photographed the hardest, I just cannot take a decent photo of a neutral look, it always looks too faded. It looked better IRL.

WTH did I do with my eyebrows for this look? Or didn't do. Sheesh. Sorry! Anyway, for this I used the first four eyeshadows on the left side of the palette.

All the eyeshadows perform really well throughout the day, they do not fade away, and they started to crease only after entire day of wearing, after 7+ hours. My eyelids are oily, I always use primer (ATM ArtDeco one), usually also a cream eyeshadow, to make the colours pop.

Swatches on my hand
And my try and the swatches of the set. All the swatches are made over primer and with two brush swipes.

Pigmentation
The left side of the palette is really well pigmented, with only chalkier black eyeshadow. The right side loses the battle thanks to the matte brown and purple eyeshadows and again chalky black with tiny sparkles. The mattes really give poor pigmentation, especially the purple one. The shimmers are gorgeously pigmented and easy to use.

The eyebrow set
If you are curious of how the eyebrow set compares to Essence set, I did a quick photo of it. You can also see how disastrous my Essence set looks like and why I hate their packaging.

The set crumbles if you only look at it wrong. Horrible. The dark eyeshadow in Lock & Load is a bit lighter, comparing to the darker one in Essence, which is perfect for me, as the Essence one was a tad bit too dark (but still manageable), so I will gladly use the one in the palette instead. The light one in the L&L however, looks a bit too yellowish to my taste, but maybe it works for fair ladies?

Dupes of HE eyeshadows?
I also read on a blog somewhere Lock & Load is supposed to be a decent almost-dupe to Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette. Looking at the swatches at Phyrra's, I can't say I agree with that. Perhaps you get a good twin to the shades Betrayal (that one is kind of spot on, actually), Rewind, Habit, Dope and Ambush; but I wouldn't really call them dupes and the rest are not even close. So if you are looking for a good dupe for Vice 2, Lock and Load might not be the right address, unless you are looking for Betrayal dupe, those two are pretty close.

To sum up ...
All in all I think this is really a lovely palette. The pans could be bigger, to be more comfortable for applying, but as this is supposed to be your "travel" palette, it is smaller and more compact, so you can't really argue with that. The real gem of the palette is definitively the copper shade, it is absolutely stunning and extremely well pigmented and easy to use. The second and third favourite certainly are the dark blue and the purple-blue ones, but the greens and the browns are lovely as well. I am not too fond of the both black eyeshadows in here, as they are a bit chalky and I really want my black eyeshadows to be pitch black. Plus the mattes are not well pigmented and they dust like hell, luckily there's only three of them (light brown, black and purple). :) The highlighter colour and the eyebrow shades are good too, so all in all there are definitively more pros than cons to the palette.

Where to buy
Slovene ladies can get the palette at licila.si for 5.95€, at the Makeup Revolution site it costs £4.00. I would recommend it to you for shimmery shades, especially the already mentioned copper, blue and blurplish one. Do not grab it for the matte ones. It is a sturdy palette, smaller, great for taking it around with you (as I did and do, since I move from one city to another quite frequently lately), with a nice combo of colours, for neutral or bolder look. Although it is supposed to be a travel size palette it doesn't have a mirror, but it does take care of your eyebrows in one go, so there's a plus. :)

What do you think about Lock & Load? Do you have it, have any other Makeup Revolution palette you can recommend? :)

Thank you for reading and commenting!

*I got the products as a gift, unconditionally, from licila.si (even the post itself was not demanded).

Blog under construction

Hey darlings,

just a quick notice, I am trying out new layouts for blog, because I am utterly sick of the last greenleaf-y one, not just visually but there also some settings that I disliked for a while now, and it is time they went. So if you see Did someone say nail polish? in million different layouts with some tabs missing etc. in the next week or so, that's the reason behind it. :) I will still post in the meantime, so stay tuned and patient with me. :)

Spotlight on my favourites: Beauty UK Pearl Eyeliners

Heya my beauties! Today I want to start with a new thread, that I was planning on starting for quite a while. I'm quite excited about it, to tell you the truth. :) I always love to read about your favourite product. I always learn about awesome products, usually if I try them out as well, they are really great and all in all it is a great system of letting each other know about the products that rock.

As my make up collection expanded, I tried million things. Lots of them are already re-sold, since I didn't use them or I threw them away, since they were such a disappointment. But every once in a while I find a real gem. And it gets into my regular routine and it stays there. For years. My first thought, when I think about gems like that certainly are my Beauty UK Pearl Eyeliners

I discovered them on Nihrida's blog, she made this amazing post on them, including the video, where she put them on her skin and literally tried to rub them off and they didn't even smudge!! Needless to say I purchased them as soon as I had the money. And this was two years ago and I still use them almost every day. They are my go-to make up, when I do not have enough time for eyeshadows, I just do a line in a colour I feel like wearing that day and that's it.

The package is awesome, best looking eyeliners out there. If you think it is hence impractical, you are mistaken - the handle fits into your palm nicely. On this picture you can actually see how much I already used them, Rich mahogany is half full, same goes for Oceania, the other three are down to two thirds.

They do not smudge in hot weather and I have quite oily eyelids. I do not need to use primer at all. Once they are dry on the eyelid, they won't go anywhere. In fact, if you have a bad make up remover, they will make you work in order to remove them. They are that good (my Bioderma micelar water removes them quickly though, without any tugging).

The application is really easy, as their point is stiff and pointy enough that you can make a precise line. They are really well pigmented, the only one that demands a bit more attention and perhaps three swipes on the eyes is the turquoise Oceania. Of course that is also my favourite, as I have brown eyes, the contrast they make together is quite nice. :)

When it comes to pigmentation, Rich Mahogany rules the set. One swipe is enough with it, dead easy to apply and a true rich brown, it looks amazing for everyday make up, alone or with eyeshadow.
Eclipse is a really nicely pigmented sparkly black, not a true black, it feels like a night sky, not pitch black and full of stars. Sorceress is a rich dark purple and Purple Haze a rich bright purple, and also my second favourite. They are both fairly nicely pigmented, the line is full with two swipes.

On sunlight:
 In shade:

I usually pick Rich Mahogany for more subtle make up, and the rest for just about anytime I can. I love the set. The only real question now is, why on Earth haven't I purchased Blue Oceania yet! I need it in my stash ASAP. The other two colours are silver Stardust and gold Sphyx, but those two I really shan't use anytime, not really my colours, I think. Although I can imagine you can do wonders with a silver one. I just might buy it, these eyeliners are worth every penny.

And you would think they are expensive, since they are so good, but they are really cheap. I bought them back then at licila.si, now the price for one is 5,95€. At Beauty UK official site they cost £3.49. Either way - a total bargain, especially when you think I use them practically every day for two years now and they are still at least half full. If you are in search for a good eyeliner, I recommend you look them up.

What is your favourite eyeliner?

NOTD of three colours

Heya everyone! How are you doing? It is hot here, a proper summer. I'm not the one for the hot weather, but I guess most people love it. The coffee shop where I'm right now has an amazing ice cream, pure fruit, water based ice cream, it is just heavenly. :)

Today I'm back with a NOTD. I do not normally post them, but I played with different colours yesterday and I loved the way this turned out.

And one without the lace, so you can see the colour more properly.

So yeah, I picked three colours I thought might look good together. Zoya Zuza is on most of my nails, on my middle fingernail Deborah Milano Pret-a-porter Stardust and on my index finger a The New Black mint shade I got at the blog event a week or so ago. On the mint shade I put the Born Pretty Store water decal (I showed them already in a few manis, here's the first post) and then mattefied it with Essence matte top coat. It is getting quite lumpy, sadness! Anyway. I love how it turned out! :) It's on my nails now, hopefully it lasts. :)

What's on your nails today?

Blue matte with flower accent nail

Hey everyone! It's hot in Ljubljana! Hope you're reading this somewhere in a nice shade with a big bowl of ice cream. :) I'm going to show you a quick mani I did some days ago. I love this Deborah Milano matte nail polish. It's number 10, and I cannot find it anywhere anymore, so I'm guessing it was discontinued back when they were on sale? I don't know, nor can I figure out why Deborah Milano decided to discontinue its matte line right before the comeback of matte finish. :) Oh well! I combined it with a water decal I got from Born Pretty Store for reviewing purposes, for some reason I thought they will look good together, but I didn't like it much in the end.

The water decals are called Chic Flower Nail Art Water Decals Transfer Stickers Splendid Water Decals Sticker (item ID 14474). Say that really fast three times, I dare you! Basically it is a whole sheet of a flower pattern, you get four different ones to choose from. And then you can shape it however you wish, I decided to try and do a whole nail with it, but I think it would look better with a smaller pattern. ATM they are on sale for only 1,59$. Not my favourite water decals from Born Pretty Store, I think they have toooons of much much better ones.

This is how the whole sheet looks like:

Deborah Milano Sense Tech needs only two coats for full opacity and is utterly gorgeous and lasts really long for a matte-no-top-coat mani! Love it! If you can find it anywhere, I do recommend you grab it. :)

If you are shopping at Born Pretty Store, do not forget about my 10% discount code. And remember, free worldwide shipping! :)

Do you have any suggestions for these types of water decals, your favourite shape to cut it into? Do you know about any place where we can still get Deborah Milano Sense Tech?

Thank you for reading and commenting!

*Product sent for reviewing purposes, you can read my disclosure here.

New In ~ A Haul Post

Hello everyone! This post just got bigger and bigger, in only the last three days. I swear, in the end of June I was positive I will have only 4 products to show you, and then I went to the hairdresser and my iHerb package arrived. And there we have it, new stuff!

Group photo does not have my licila.si package on it, because I simply forgot to take a photo of it today, as I already took them right after I got the package, so I could start using the make up right away. No matter, here it is:

Licila.si surprised me with a gorgeous package in June. Makeup Revolution mini palette Lock & Load has some really stunning shades! I already used about half of them and I am in love! Plus the eyebrow set in the end is great, the darker shade suits me perfectly.

Makeup Revolution Baked Eyeshadow palette Bang Bang is another set of dark eyeshadows. including bluish and gunmetal shades. I haven't used it yet, but checked if it similar to MeMeMe blue set, and it is not.

Makeup Revolution nail polish Change My Life I already showed, so you already had the chance to read my review on it.

Look at the colours in Lock & Load!! Looove it!

Another new things in my make up department were these two beauties.

Real Techniques Blush Brush and Stippling Brush. Boy oh boy, am I late to the Real Techniques party! These two are amazing brushes, really. I got them on iHerb, I had enough rewards points to get them practically for free. And they are awesome, I am definitively buying more RT brushes!!

And now something for my face, as we are already talking about iHerb:

Derma E Evenly Radiant Brightening Toner with Vitamin C. It was on sale or something on iHerb and I read only the best things about this toner, so I gave it a go. It smells amazing!

Alaffia Authentic African Black Soap with Peppermint. Ok. Ok. I know it is a rookie mistake to buy anything for the skin with peppermint in it, but I needed a cleanser and I hoped the peppermint isn't too strong. It kinda is, but here's another thing: I really like the feeling the peppermint leaves on my face. Silly, as I know it is an irritant for the skin, yes. The peppermint is, however, quite noticeable, so I will definitively go with the regular black soap next time (and I hope it's going to be in stock then!). I love African Black Soap, previously I used the Akamuti one and I love how clean my face feels after using it.

Daiso Japan Charcoal Mask for removing blackheads. I decided to try this thing after reading the review on mejkap.si of it. It is a fun mask, as it is completely black and dries up to a totally solid mask on your face. ORC TIME! :D Anyway, the removal is easy and the first impression good. As Krvava Meri nicely puts it in the review - the old blackheads will need to go out by pressing them out, but for regular cleaning of your pores this mask is a good thing, after using it, most of my pores are clean and consequently look smaller.

Lately I am not particularly happy with my skin condition, each of my pores feels like it is the size of our Postojna cave, and I felt like my Korres cleanser did not clean my skin well in the end, that is why I went for the African Black Soap, as I know it is a good cleanser. And as for buying on iherb, I can only recommend it. The packages arrive fast, and even though I paid customs taxes for this package, I still paid less then half of what I would need to pay, would I buy these items (or substitutes of them) in Slovenia.

And something for my hair! I went to the hairdresser on Monday, after a year and a half. About 15 cm of my hair lenght went bye-bye, but I am so happy to have healthy hair again! I went to a new hair salon and I am in love with my new hair stylist! She is amazing, first time I actually saw someone really paying attention to cutting my ends, not just grabbing and cutting them off (like I could do by myself at home) and for the first time almost the entire conversation went about my hair care and what I am doing wrong or could do better. Without any pressure to actually buy anything from the salon as well, which is always a great plus. But I went there in want to try and buy some products and so I decided to try Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture Daily Shampoo, as my shampoos are probably my weakest link in the hair care (next to the anti-dandruff one, that I always pick with great care, I usually just pick one that looks nice in the bottle). And Paul Mitchell Moisture Protective Oil, since I am working on the sun a lot. I have already decided to buy Orofluido Sahara for that cause, but then got caught up in Paul Mitchell and decided on a whim. Still, Orofluido Sahara is next, I have a feeling I will be using these things rather quickly.

I already have two looks with Makeup Revolution Lock & Load prepared for you, so that's a review coming up rather soon, and if you want a separate review of any of the other products, just let me know!

Thank you for reading and commenting!
