Sinful Colors ~ Big Daddy

We continue weekly program later than planned, but with a real treat. This year's colour that grew most on me comparing to last year is most certainly orange. Over more than one year ago I wouldn't even think of wearing orange, thinking it is one of unwearable colours for me. Ha! So much for that! I absolutely love orange now. My first crush was obviously Orange Marmalade. And this year I craved orange even more. Since my swap buddy, Ms. My Lucid Bubble, knew that, she surprised me with a great great juicy colour in one of the packages. Yum!

A really great orange jelly that I need to wear soon again. ATM I'm sporting a poisonous green, which is also a totally delicious colour, but I think Big Daddy shall be next, it is just too awesome. For some reason I saw  a lot of red in this colour on other swatches when I googled the colour. It is not read, it is a bright bright orange that can make you thirsty for orange juice, no kidding! As it seems it's also a dupe for O.P.I. A Good Mandarin Is Hard To Find.

The formula and brush were great. This is a jelly, so it needs three coats for good opacity on my short nails, I'm thinking I'd need four on longer ones. Don't care, love the colour!

Paket Petek (haul post)

You know, as I posted Essence Open Water Dive few hours earlier, I thought to myself: I really must not forget to post my Paket Petek post tomorrow, being Friday and all (Paket Petek means Package Friday). And as I cooked more tea right now, I realised today is Friday. *sigh* To my defence I can write down that it is not one of my best days, I feel rather drowsy and like a cold is waiting to jump on me. I've started with vitamin C and extra sweater today, hope it helps.

Last week I got a package in my mailbox. Yaaay! Me and my swap buddy took a break from swapping during Summer, and I  must say, I was so excited when I saw the package on the table. I was a bit worried that is won't arrive, since the last one got lost/stolen. But there is was and it contained food for two of my obsessions! Nail polish AND eyeshadows! I'm posting it tonight since last Friday I was in Austria, and had no time for scheduled posts. :)

I've already tried all the eye product and they are nothing short of amazing. The pigmentation of WnW eyeshadows is incredible, and the Milani Shadow Eyez in Green Safari has to be my favourite green eye pencil ever. It's gorgeous green, works in tons of looks and stays on lower lash line 10 hours+. Love!

Walking on Eggshells is actually a palette of what I've called 'Why bother' colours before. Now I know the subtle, neutral colours can make so much difference, I'm starting to love them. The package was right on time for my important interview in college, so I opened Walking on Eggshells immediately. And I love it. I also tried both halves of Comfort Zone and it's a sheer perfection, whether you follow the WnW guidelines or use separate eyeshadows in different looks. Amazing, really. They really make me want to try all WnW palettes, I've read so much good about them, but now I also see they're right up there with my best eyeshadows.

The nail polish will be shown in separate posts, of course, but you can see the Sinful Color one on my last picture already. :)

And today I got the second package! Full of China Glaze Capital Colors collection, yay! I'm already wearing Agro (the green one) and it's perfect. I have the best swap buddy in the world, and just in case there is a slim chance you don't know her blog yet: My Lucid Bubble. Go!

Nightly Nails mani

Heya darlings! How are you doing? It's a day from hell for me. Shitload of bad news and a dead, rainy grey day. Oh yes. Bring it on. But I started typing this post yesterday and now I want to finish it so here we go!

I have a cool one to show you today. You know the feeling, when you see a really really awesome mani on a blog and can't wait to do it yourself? I actually get that a lot. Very often for manis I don't have time to do so I slowly let it go. But this one was very simple. And amazing. It was 3 a.m., I was studying and having a break with browsing through the blogosphere, sleepy as hell. And I saw the mani (I think it was the top something of the 2011 post) and I freaking woke up! So it was a good one, no? It was seen on Nightly Nails blog and I instantly went for the original post, to see how it was made. Sinful Colors Seaweed, flakies and matte TC. I have all that. Yay!

So here is what I used. Sinful Colors Seaweed, two coats, one coat of Essie Shine of the Times, and one coat of Essence Matte TC.

I love the combo, it's very unusual, subtle, but unusual. :) And the polishes. Essie did a great flakie, awesome application! Thanks to Nightly Nails for the idea!

Seaweed on Adventure Island of Sin

Wow, that "of Sin" really puts the drama into the title, doesn't it? Well, as you probably know already, it's just a play of the boring title that would be "Sinful Colors Seaweed and Adventure Island with scotch tape accent mani" although it basically covers everything I want to show you in this post. 

I have no idea what's up with Sinful Colors and O.P.I., but as it seems, Sinful will be the cheap way to get some O.P.I. from now on. Not that I'm complaining, I like Sinful, plus it's really cheaper. Of course we don't have it in EU, but they're a great brand to swap for, ladies.

Anyway. When O.P.I. came out with Stranger Tides collection I was expecting a lot. I love pirates, and I love POTC - at least first two movies. I won't bore you with another rant over a relatively old collection, but pastels didn't go well at all with the theme, IMO. And when I finally saw the fourth movie (Stranger Tides, obviously) I was so disappointed, it's such a lame story. The only thing worth seeing in it is of course Johnny Depp and that's it. Oh, and Geoffrey Rush! My love and affection for Mr. Depp runs deep for years now. I watched most of his films, when I went through his filmography sistematically back in high school. I still have few on the list, but all in all I can easily say he's my favourite actor of all time. Yes, he's probably the sexiest man that I ever saw on the screen (for my taste at least), but not only that - he's a superb actor too, which is by far more important for a good movie, i'd say. ;) I love so many of his movies. I know he got really, "commercially", famous with POTC, but I love his older, "weirder" movies so much more. I do recommend them!

Oh wait, what was I sayin ... Nail polish! Yes! *shakes head* You can tell I'm getting down with a cold, can't you? From Stranger Tides collection Stranger Tides polish was the one that caught my eye and I asked Kris for it or the duplicate from Sinful, when it got out in their Adventure Island collection for Spring/Summer 2011. She got it for me, and sent me Adventure Island too (that one doesn't have a dupe in OPI collection). I did a bit of scotch tape design with them too, because they looked so good together on my desk. Nothing major, since I seriously lacked time back then. But I like it.

 I really like how this picture turned out. :) 

I was surprised by how much I loved Adventure Island. Don't know why I didn't think I would when I looked at the swatches, it's yellow and green and I like both colours. Well, I love it. It's a cool, unusual colour and I don't have anything like it in my stash. It applies a bit tricky (must be the yellowness of it) but will cover up nicely in three coats. It shows more yellow on my nails, but you can't deny the greeness of it too. Cool! The scotch tape was a poor attempt of doing one of the Nailside lightning bolts but I couldn't remember how to do it from the top of my head and I didn't have time to start the computer, so I ended up with something simpler. It looks like a shark in the water, so maybe it goes well with the colleciton theme too. ;)

And the Seaweed alone.

I totally love this one. I really really do. Two to three coats, depends on the nail, formula is ok, but the colour is awesome!

I think I'll go and make myself a cup of tea and try again to breathe through my nose. That should be an adventure too.

Long Time No See: O.P.I. Who The Shrek Are You with lime green comparison

Oh, the title is so long. I hate when that happens. Who The Shrek Are You? is probably one of my favourite OPIs ever. I love the green. My BF hates it, but I love it, hehe. I saw the colour on a blog and immediately thought to myself "it's about damn time I wear it again!". Hence the Long Time No See label. As my stash is gettting bigger and bigger I'm starting to forget about the seriously cool and loved colours in it. Sad.

Since it's my kind of green I do have a couple that get close to it too, so I did a quick comparison for ya.

• Index and pinky: O.P.I. Who The Shrek Are You?
• Middle finger: Brucci Stephanie's Go Lime
• Ring finger: Sinful Colors Innocent

As you all know, Who The Shrek Are You? is a part of O.P.I. Shrek Forever After Collection for Spring 2010, but I told you that once more anyway. What you probably don't know is, I'm a big Shrek fan. And that's because of Shrek himself. "Ogres are like onion." I love his grumpy yet loving attitude, you know. And, although it's almost a cliché now not to love clichés, I love the unusual heros in the stories. I hate blond princes who save the so-passive-it's-already-insulting ladies. Well, bond guys were never my type anyway. ;) 

Ok, now that I've gone completely OT on you, how about a few info on polish? Shrek is a three coater for me, I cannot get rid of bold spots otherwise. It's insanely glossy and dries fast.

His cousins are not dupes, as you can see. Stephanie's Go Lime (what's with that name??) is much more yellow, and Innocent something in between. I love SGL better, since it's more different form WTSAY? (as you know I don't like having dupes) and also the forumula is much better than of Sinful Colors. While SGL needs three coats and Innocent only two, Innocent has the worst brush of them all. 

I advise you two coats of base coat for this type of green, if you don't like your nails stained. Otherwise you'll have seriously yellow nails. I checked. -.-

Nfu Oh does magic in San Francisco

Hey guys! And welcome new people, 560 of us here, woohoo! We are having the gloomiest weather ever here in Ljubljana, I think this intensity of dead grey colour can only be produced by our lovely capitals weather so I did a mani that quite maches that. Although it looks better on the nails. ;) I'm still trying to cough my lungs out, but it's getting better, luckily, this is the worst time ever to get sick for me. But anway! 

I showed you San Francisco in my last post, and you know what this beauty called for? That's right! Flakies!! La la la - flakies!! Can't get enough of them, no, I don't even mind the removing process (which, btw, I still find much easier than with some polish ala Space Cadet). And I couldn't decide whether to go all green or mix a lil' bit of blue in it, so I did a 56 mani with the 52 accent finger. Just because I can!

The last two are direct sunlight, but different angle, to show all the different colours these flakies bring to the mani. Also to show you how much blue 52 actually is. :)

I really loved this mani, of course. I loved the accent finger, 52 darkend San Francisco into this really dark green, yet it was still green with this gorgeous blue flash. And 56 is still my favourite flakie polish, so I don't feel I must add anything else to it, you know how much I loved this combination. Green over green. :) I really loved the accent idea, it came out just right, and so i discovered new ways to combine flakies. Maybe I should try it also one on another ... hmm ...

Anyway ... flakies were both two coats, I added Nfu Oh Ultra Shine TC. Sadly the flakies didn't cover the mess SV did on my mani, so I didn't wear it for the full time the mani could last. Still, gorgeous combination, IMO. :)

Sinful Colors - San Francisco a.k.a. lemming killed

How about two in a row, due to me feeling like I got hit by a bus? It's always like this, one gets home caughing, the next day there is two in the family with a cough, and so it spreads and I already have a sore throat and am, as it seems, trying to cough my lungs out, while the brains are pounding in my skull for me to stop. Oh well. Luckily I killed another one of my big wishes today, I got in the mail the sweet orange goodness that goes by the name Orange Marmalade and it's on my nails right now, making me happy and also thirsty for a freshly squeezed orange juice. Yummy. 

But today about another lemming killed. I worshiped San Francisco, so so much. Just think about it, emerald sparkly green, you know I'll be drooling all over my keyboard for it. Not one swatch of this baby was bad. And of course I got it in the best swap package ever and here it is! Only lightbox pictures, because it was late at night and even so you can see the sparkles!

*dreamy sigh* This colour was everything I imagined it would be and more. When it comes to the colour that is. Perhaps I was so amazed by the shade, I never read what bloggers have to say about this baby. Because it's sheer! This was 4 coats! Yes, I'm a 100% cover freak and I dislike VNL, but 4 coats for a shimmery polish seems a bit much. Sure, I get it with glitter and glass flecks and so on, but simple shimmer polish? I don't know guys. It was an unpleasant suprise. Saying that I must admit, I'm a total sucker for greens, not to mention emerald greens, not to mention emerald greens that freakin' sparkle!! So Sinful is forgiven. And that's a word play I didn't plan, I swear, lol. It's a gorgeous colour, I must say. SV screwed it up a bit, it dried so wrong and then the shinkage and the weird spots of polish on top of my nail ... beautiful, really. I must thin that sucker or just stop using it. 

It was a first full mani i did with any Sinful and other than sheernes I have no major complaints. I remember I wasn't over the moon with the brush, but not something I'd really complain about, it's just not so much better than average brush one would point that out.

What's your limit of coats for a mani and which finish/colour gets away with more in your tolerance zone? :)

Red comparison week - 6th day: *the* sexy reds: 4

Heya guys! How are you? On this beautiful day I'm getting a terrible headache, yes! I guess I'll need some pills, since I just cannot miss another day of studying. Oh, we're fresh out of painkillers. Hooray. Anyway. Today I have for you my favourite type of reds. Yes, they even beat vampy and blood reds, they're just so damn good. These are little bottles of sex. If you want to feel sexy, just put them on, you can have old jeans and a streched out T-shirt of a band you don't even like anymore on you and still you'll feel like a million bucks. I don't really know if it's the shimmer, ot the gorgeous base colour, I don't know where do they look better, on the sun or in the shadow, but whenever I look at my nails wearing them, they're are hot-t-t!

Boy oh boy oh boy! Such awesome, awesome reds! *dreamy sigh* Ok, anyway ... you know the drill:

All three brands are B3F! Yay! 

Brush: Again, all three brands with very nice brushes. Zoya and Nubar are of course top of the tops when it comes to the brush and I also like the Sinful one. Very normal brush, but it doesn't give you any troubles, and that's what matters!

Coats: All are two coaters, but I put three on Sinful, due to VNL. Although it was minimal, I wanted the 100% coverage. But two are more than enough. Application is smooth and easy, Sinful is runnier and far less pigmented, but the colour bulids up eventually. Zoya and Nubar didn't give me any troubles at all, but I didn't expect any troubles either, since I worship Torried Red and Isla, Isla is one of my most used varnishes of my stash. 

Dupability: No dupes! Need them all! Oh yes! Colbie is the brownest of them all, Torrid Red the darkest red, Lying nails the lightest, almost a true red with the sexy shimmer for more oomph. I *adore* these colours on natural light. Soooo soft and velvety. Isla is mine, but the other three go to my "urgent" WL. Well, Torrid Red is already there, of course. Really loved these, especially since they're so easy to work with.
